Seen that programme. It’s basically:

Here’s something worth about £5 scrap

Here’s 24 man hours put into mucking about with it.

Here’s something now worth about £10 retail.

Skip probably laughing at her.

They’ll definitely not let her take whatever or the show is paying the tip owner a wedge

In the show they stop them before it goes in a skip. Its only the tips property once in there. They would obviously need to ask for permission to film ect.

I've never seen it. Don't watch any broadcast telly, really. Are you saying they hang around the tip all day, until someone rocks up with something they can use? Hmm...

Probably already got the item, get someone to pretend to bring it in, who knows or yeah maybe they just film all day, then they spend £600 getting someone to make something with it, and then she manages to sell it to someone for £1000 for there shop and there then going to make more money on it, if you can believe anything they say on TV Programming.

Glad I don't have it on in background like I used too and see rubbish like it, TV only on to watch movie or old TV shows

I think that it's always a bit generous ... given the time put in is never *properly* factored as a cost.
Purely because if they did ... there's zero profit in 70% of the stuff that they pull ... at the price that they quote.
...
Still, as pure entertainment?
Eh ... better than a kick in the teeth, and you can pick up some really good restoration tips from it.

We had loads of production companies ask to film in the Arcade when we had it. If only that Netflix show Michelle Keegan did was a few years earlier.

Most of them were these storage wars or whatever stuff. Remember Salvage hunters getting in touch and knocking them back.

Be f*cked if I’m standing in front of a cab saying it’s worth 25k so it doesn’t make that Drew look like he’s had his pants pulled down

If it's Salvage Hunters he would have just passed by all the expensive stuff and gone to the storage room at the back to find some vintage biscuit tins.

To be fair, it's still the only show in TV I watch, because it creates the impression that there are nice towns out there with quaint shops and interesting things in them, even if it is mostly fake. I recall when they came to Ireland they visited an antiques warehouse in Portlaoise and didn't show the town at all, so they hide anything unpleasant.

I notice that series' 1-5 have been removed from Discovery+. I wonder why. Maybe because he robbed some private sellers who were desperate for money, then boasted about it on the way home.

Think the owners of the tips have sorters and sellers hence not wanting you to take anything of value. As it’s theres. That’s what one of the people working there told me

In their defence, it’s a free service hiring loads of people. Got to make their money somehow

I dont think they are a free service, pretty sure part of your council tax goes towards funding it so you are already paying to use the Tip.

My local one has similar rules to others, you need a Free permit to bring in a van (or a tall vehicle) but only allowed none commercial waste, and trailers can only be up to a certain size, I think under 6ft or 4ft. What annoys me with ours is they started several years ago charging for certain waste types one of which is garden rubble and waste, some of which they will likely sell on again for more money as well.

TV = Fake Reality

Far better things to do with your time :)
