Yeah my local tips run by Viridor. They basically have their own army there. Cameras and staff everywhere.

I turned up in a van once to get rid of a tired sofa and they turned me away saying the vehicle isn't permitted 🙄 Guy told me I can strap the sofa to the roof of my car and then that's fine to bring it in. Hows that safer🤣? They have to follow the rules even if they make zero sense.
Mine doesn't allow vans without a special permit, but people with huge 4x4s with trailers are fine, it seems. Lol

Vans and I think Trailers over a certain size. The guys working there used to take some right abuse from public which wasn't nice but you can see someones argument when they genuinely didn't know the need permit for vans, hire a van to clear some stuff and turned away and they wonder why fly tipping gets worse.

Trouble is before the permit crap they would get some tradesmen that don't want to pay for trade waste so time to tar everyone in a van and need a permit. Some would just pull up outside gates and dump it near entrance gates

What a shame, best to ask forgiveness rather than permission in these situations as they'll never say yes and allow you to take any thing but they might have their back turned at the time.

I helped myself to an n64 with mario kart sticking out of it once and thankfully no one noticed.

😱 why ? Lovely colourful cocktail
How you brought happiness to so many ..
now you’ve gone to the junk yard in the sky to spill your copper penny ..

Your buttons will be pressed no more your stick has emptied all its joys

but the Happiness you gave still burns in all those girls and boys ..

I suspect it is a victim of a clearout after someone has passed away. There's so much to deal with, you can't be bothered with selling stuff. You just want it gone. Been in this situation myself, but I didn't go as far as junking something like this.

that's shocking, even more so they didn't let you just grab it.
It's not the staff's fault. They are constantly being watched by big brother on CCTV and would get in trouble if they get caught breaking rules. Just another example of the said state of affairs, these days.

Yeah, true. It's not really shocking. Although I would have thought grabbing it would be ok.. but if a member of the public fell into a pit trying to grab an old arcade machine there would be hell to pay.

In the 3.5 years I've worked in this industry we've scrapped over a 1000 reel analogue fruit machines at work as we move towards fully digital only a small percentage were sold on.
iPubs are no been phased out too in favour of fully online machines.

Seems actual pubs are being phased out, too. There isn't one where I live, anymore. No shops, either.

If you had been there at the time they were about to fetch it out the car, pretty sure it's not the tips property until it's left there vehicle so you could have said put it straight in mine or offer some money, or say I'd like to save that, drive out with it again and I'll take it from you, either way they can't do anything, gotta be good timing to be there at the crucial time though

Yep, unlucky timing. 100% I would have done this.
