Can I get some clarification on this please?

Does T-Molding come in different sizes with regard to the width of the tongue? I bought enough to do my BZ cabaret a long time ago now. That should tell you what size the moulding is (I don't remember). I removed the old stuff when I got the cab as it was all stretched round the corners and what have you. I attempted to just test fit a little bit of the new and it just slides right in and out of the groove. No way it will stay there.

My initial reaction was "arse, cab must be swollen" which is way beyond my woodworking skills, but when chatting to someone (I forget who) they seemed to think it may be a simple case of the tongue is the incorrect size on the new moulding. Is that possible??

I sincerely hope so or I'm a bit buggered!

AFAIK it's all the same size (tongue that is). They're not always a bang on reproduction either. My Cinematronics cabs have T-Moulding that sits very flat with no curve once in the slot, the reproduction stuff has a crown to it and probably a MM narrower.

Regarding siting in the slot I have stuff that drops straight out, due to moisture swelling it probably. I'd use "Sticks Like Sh*t" (like No-More Nails, but better or a good Mastic), dab blobs in the slot, fix the moulding and masking tape it down until it's stuck, usually next day. You do see the occasional small tack in tricky corners too, but I'm sure you're aware of that!

Sikaflex is great stuff, High Modulus, Black too. I think Sikaflex 221 is the one you want.

Stick it there and show it who's boss!

OK, ta for the info - I'll have a nose at it this weekend. It wouldn't surprise me if it's a little swollen. All those years on a ship will do that I guess.

Could also be that taking the old t-molding out removed some of the wood (if its chipboard). Bound to not be quite as tight afterwards.

If you're gluing it in I would use hot glue so that you can remove it quite easily in future should you need to.

When I redid my t-moulding, I used a hot glue gun, worked like a charm. Cut little notches out of the tongue on the corners so it doesn't bunch up, do a bit at a time, and if possible, get someone to follow you round as you glue, holding it in place until it takes hold.

Oh, and watch the hot tip of the gun against the wide bit of the moulding that will be exposed on the cab - Melt that, and there's no going back!
