Been having a mare with Kodi on my pi 3b librelec set up lately. Was using an older 16 build but all of a sudden was 50/50 if my amp would pick up dolby digital plus. I upgraded to Kodi 20.1 but some files, solved the digital plus issue !!, But on TV series particularly would just play audio no sound. I've updated to 20.2 which is latest in the librelec wizard. I now get stuttery picture on a TV show I want to finish off. I downloaded three different versions of the same show and still the same issue. In desperation I have managed to get my Amazon firestick max , using vlc player to stream the files from my pi, they work perfectly via the TV stick . But VLC player is not really a full blown media player. I am assuming I may need to upgrade my pi3b to a pi4 as newer tv stuff seems in a newer format. Has anyone got a latest pi and just see if it plays a file back or stutters, if I share one out please ? I dont want to spend £100 on a new pi to find out it is not hardware related ! Just need a touch test really and would be appreacited.

Out of interest for those who have local mkv's/MP4's are you using raspberry Pi or another method to play them back on TV and via your amp. I dont use my pi much these days as most films are in subscriptions...

Thank you

Does the external drive need to be powered or is a portable ok ?

Do you run disney or netlflix from your nvidia shield does that send dolby plus etc or is it leaving it to the amp.

I have a yamaha amp myself.

SO I boot kodi , then use the tv control to select films and turn amp on/off etc. I use passthru on kodi so sound is sent in the correct format to amp
