Someone I know who is making the trip to Play Blackpool has been told that in the next town along (I assume he means lytham st annes) in the pier arcade there is a big sega section at the back, I've told him I'll double check this info with some people in the know arcadewise, ie you guys

I'm just wondering if it's correct & if so are we talking golden oldie sega cabs (wishfull thinking I reckon there on my part), was it there but not any longer, is it worth making the trip etc.

Cheers

I was on the St Anne's pier last year and don't remember a 'Sega section'. IIRC they had some oldish cabs such as Sega Rally and some pins.

Thanks for the info, looks like it may still be worth him going but I'll tell him not to get his hopes up too much then

Do have a look at the arcade just down the road from the Norbreck in Bispham on the corner and up to Cleveley's which is a bit of a forgotten place.

I'm sure all will be sadly the standard lifeless fruit fest and the usual obliqueness of pushers and cranes with a knackered twin sit down to class as "the video game section"

However, it doesn't matter where I go and what I see, I still love to wander through arcades - even if there's nothing I want to play there's a whole lot of memories.

Me, Mrs RGP and the boy do have a bit of fun with the pushers when we go places.

It would be great to see an actual section somewhere still with classics - even if they were in JAMMA cabs.

Yes. I think it's only to be expected, I'm not sure who mentioned the "Sega Section" at the pier but I had ideas from reading Blackpool/Lytham arcade reports on here that no such place existed today but wondered if it was a new section, sadly not it seems

I am exactly like you & your clan, I still enjoy wandering the arcades, remembering what they used to be, wondering if there are a load of old unloved arcade cabs in the back room, trying not to be tempted by the fruities & have a few goes on the pushers or try & find the redemption machines that give out the easiest tickets to "win" something.

Thanks for the info though as I really want to take a trip to BP this year myself, not been in around 10 years.

There was an arcade a bit further along from the pier that had Daytona and a few other cabs. If you walk along the prom (down the coast) there's an old railway carriage that's been converted into a cafe. It's behind that.

Great pics Fuzzy, thanks, deffo going to check it out in summer myself when I make the trip over, not like we remember the place as kids but nice to see any games/pinballs in arcades these days, a very welcome sight

The chaps I know who were thinking of hitting the mystery sega pier are going on the weekend of play expo so I reckon they may as well stick to the actual show for their arcade fix.

I lived in Lytham for a couple of years circa mid 90s. The pier amusements were still pretty good even then. Dropped in for a quick visit last time Replay was in Blackpool - still plenty to play.
