I’m interested if anyone collects fruit machines from our kind of era
As we know they were everywhere
Any pics ?

To me it seems harder to find these ,I assume they were broken up quicker than arcade games
Also maybe tougher to find places to import them from if indeed anywhere ?

These things were addictive beyond what arcade games were imo
Lured into arcades to play the latest games ,only put the lot into these
I’ve a bit of a love /hate with them
I’ve owned a few just ,each way nudger Mario kart ,and a few others
I found they get a bit boring after a while winning your own money ,but I’ve taken an urge for one again.

Some of the machines I filled and remember were
Cash alarm ,
Hi lo silver
Cash reels
Snappy viper
Cop a lot
Line up
Nudge double up

Also deal em the pontoon /hi lo game took a fortune from me and that thing you put 10 p in and it slides and needs to cover the 50p circle 😀

Max...

This is past the era when I was throwing money away in them in pubs in the late 80's but regret never picking this up when it was a few £hundred on eBay many years ago:

There’s quite an active group on Facebook for Fruit Machines. The admin of the group Fruit Machines for Sale (Mark Baker) regularly posts his pickups on there and then sells a lot of them on eBay.

Never played them at all, my brother went through a phase of throwing his money away on them and then parents asking where money has gone from mums purse, wasn't me so I know it was my brother
Watched mates play em in pub and first time I played one was when I got this from the tip, had all the coin tubes missing and kept having reel issues so it ended up back down there as they were worth about £50 at the time complete, I was running out of space as I was buying more video games but it's so annoying and wish you kept them, really liked the East Enders one, then I got a Mario Kart 64 from the tip, I thought that was boring to play so sold that, at time they only fetched about £150-200

Then I bought this last year or year before because I didn't wanna pay what East Enders sell for now
Working but faulty Alpha Display, can't test with coins till thats sorted but need to sell this on now as I bought another East Enders months after getting this coz one came up on ebay lol, I'd keep it as well if I had space as I quite like Simpsons stuff, complete with manuals, keys and spare jackpot decals and quite decent condition

Lucky you ,steering clear of them .
I lived and breathed the things ,there was just a certain buzz
But it could get a grip of you .
I’m ok now as long as I don’t start playing them lol
That red rose place ,I think it’s called .looks amazing

I remember taking on broken up one to the tip and they were wanting everything separated
Luckily I didn’t hear the guy properly before launching all the bits into the skip

While I don’t “collect” fruit machines I have had many hundreds from mid 70s 2p play 10p play up to rececently CatC £100 jackpot ones, most of which met fiery or landfill graves…. (Apart from Approx 100 still in northwales pubs and arcade on holiday parks, no longer under my direct control as I have retired) End of life arcade disposal .. A lot of those you listed except cash alarm ? I don’t recall that one? But….

I do still have the first fruity I ever owned since 1974 .. over 50 years ago…it’s a 1971 1p play also takes 5p/10p Taverners Millionaire 27 ways to win 10p if cheques land anywhere in the window 9 positions for a massive 10p jackpot …. The plug was handy so I lit it up tho as it’s not been on for several years the mechanical relays didn’t act today when I dropped in a big 10 sadly…

Bow tie start lever on front with random hold even hold after win too pays out only in pennies including any remaining credits banked… common in pubs early 70s and odd chip shops tho 6d versions were more widely used paying tokens only.

I also have a barcrest hi/lo card game with monitor from about 1982 multi coin but not pounds as they weren’t invented yet? (Don’t think that’s working not used in decades. MPU4)

The ‘silver circles’ slide in 10ps I did up to about 2 years ago have a casino cash version with the tilt to clear table inside was one of my favourites but sold on eBay .

Here’s a couple of millionaire pics…..live today….

Very cool .that bow tie handle just jogged my memory
I remember playing a machine with one of them in a bar with parents when I was about 8 or 9
I put 5p in and some guy came flying over .said push this and push that .won a fiver .
Went to a wee market with the fiver ,felt like a millionaire probably cost me a million in the long run 🤣

Is your hi lo machine ,deal em ?? Loved that thing
Cash alarm had great skill stops ,2p play .
Then there was a half circle thing that flashed where you could get nudges etc
Had big 50 in middle .50p but with repeats 😀

Very similar to ‘Deal Em’ this one is ‘casino hi lo’ buried in pool/snooker cloth but just managed a picture…. Allowed youngest daughter to have this at home Xmas surprise when she was 10 in 1996 (she played it non stop in our arcade back then) it just got abandoned from house when she left school …. Now she is 40 her hubby has garden bar and grandsons have a pooltable in main lounge as they live mainly in the sun room/orangery where there’s a wood burner stove (older grandson plays pool for his uni team at Ormskirk EdgeHill Uni and in a club in Southport)

She keeps asking for a fruity but they need be a classic from the 80s in my opinion!

Maybe I will refurb this for her ?? One day?

Ok , So I love Only Fools And Horses close enough for it to be a bit of an obsession. 20 years or so ago I purchased a Bell Fruit ' Dells Millions ' (1990 - 1991), Faulty and needing attention. I managed to fix it up and get it all running with the help from a guy from Bell Fruit , As they called him ' One of the old guys ' , he was very very good and still new what went where and when the alarms were going off he new why. I could not have done it without him, Replaced the stepper motors (With great cost and a nightmare to get hold of).

I then moved house a few times and just had no where to put it so I spoke to a friend who said he would love to purchase it. After a long think I said he could buy it on ONE condition , and that was if he wanted to sell it comes back to me. That was 12 years ago and I have lost touch with him. I feel physically sick when I think about it and at this moment in time I could just throw my guts up and punch a puppy in anger that I let it go. I loved that machines so so much , It has spurred me on to try and ask him if he still has it.

Thanks @Body pop for bringing this up and ruining my night ! lol

Dave.

Let’s search this friend up and get you reunited with your machine .lol

I’m pretty sure I saw someone on Facebook telling the same story ,same machine and how he lost touch purposely ,so he could enjoy the beauty forever 👀🤣
