Yeah yeah, I know everyone thinks they are sh*t but as a previous owner of a Star Wars/ESB machine who knows the headache and cost involved in the real thing I am looking forward to one of these.

They are showing the first demo unit off with their prototype controller at a show this weekend, hopefully reviews will be good...

Surely it will just be a little cheapo analog stick wrapped in a yoke? And a bog standard LCD screen. Either way i agree with chubs ill never get to own an original these days do am quite interested this could well be a very good seller.

apparently the sticks are modelled on the repris that are available and they have reached a deal to offer the repris as an upgrade

The controller in a picture I saw looked excellent, just like the original. I had doubts about whether the production one would be the same...

TBH, the fact they're going to be offering an upgrade yoke doesn't bode well for the quality of the one that comes as standard. I imagine the price of the upgrade yoke will be pretty hefty. Might still be worth the expense though as long as the game plays well enough. Like most, I will never own an original cab without winning the lotto.

LCD could work well if it’s a higher resolution than the dot pitch of the XY original monitor (and they emulate the beam drawing authentically.

Is the screen slanted back a bit in the original too?

Star Wars fans will buy anything if it even has a crayon drawing on the side that says ‘sTah WaRz’

All the 1ups I’ve seen this far have been knackered in a very short space of time.
Can’t see why these would be any different?

1. Bit mean, but also a bit very true. Proper lolled.

2. Every single one. Shocking quality.

3. But is IS Star Wars...

I hardly ever played my Star Wars because I was always afraid it wouldn't work when I did, the stress offof owning such an expensive and difficult to maintain cab put me right off it so am 99% I will pick one of these up, especially as ROTJ is a favourite game of mine too, not fond of ESB though.

I don't expect the yoke to be as 'substantial' as the original or repro versions, but as long as it is 'good enough' I will be happy.

Because it was a NEW Alan-1 Reproduction proper made metal one, they are going to be a upgrade option which means the yoke will be about as heavy as the cab

It's not hard for someone to copy it and make from plastic which is what it will be, so basically like a plastic steering wheel that 90% of gamers use on the consoles for driving games which would be fine for home use

If you have the time, space, money, tools your better off making a smaller version of the upright cab yourself and fitting a PC in it, then if they offer the controllers separate you could use one on your replica and play loads more games as well but for the majority of people that can't this stops people trying to sell there home made bar tops for 2k which is good

Good thing is, it will reduce some of the people that use original controllers on Bar tops etc, if they want a metal one they can buy the Alan-1

They really should of made them an better replica of the original in my view and taller as it's not kids that will be buying them

Looks good to me. If one can be picked up for£300 I would get one to try.

I reckon they will be £599 at the very least over here, if not £699. The older cabs can be picked up dirt cheap in the US but prices here are insane.
