Arcade at Teighmouth Pier gone ?

Hi Guys

Just been speaking to my grandad who lives down in Teighmouth and he said the Arcade at the Pier was pretty much totalled during the storms.

just wondered if there's any locals that can confirm as he isn't very mobile so doesn't get out much.

Spent a lot of my youth down there and while it was a shadow of its former self still had 1 or 2 nice machines in there..

I was in there between Xmas and new year and it was all still in one piece. Hope it still is!

I went to school in Teighmouth and spent a lot of time playing games on the pier and the arcade next to the cinema by the weird lace shop.

My folks, still in newton abbot, have confirmed the pier is closed until further notice plus I found this herald express article

Whether the pier is closed and the family are thinking of selling the contents, who knows?

I live in Teignmouth - There was a lot of damage done during the storms recently...

But as far as I am *aware* they are fixing it all up and will continue as normal in Spring...

I called in there last week, unfortunately the damage inside is substantial.. real problem is not the roof and the structure but the floor which in some places has been destroyed with the waves crashing up and through, especially near the entrance. There has been allot of press coverage and a couple of tv spots as well, and from what i can gather the family want to re-open and were hoping to be open by Easter but (surprise bloody surprise) the insurance are dragging their heals.

The family seam very philosophical about it but the opening seams way way off from what i saw the other day.

As for the classics in there, not many "classic" videos left but there were allot of vintage em fruitys and games which may be totalled, that salt water has carted allot of stuff.. I fear the worst

A great shame, a lovely arcade with a great family running it with loads of history... relay did bring a tear to my eye
