Hi, I have a quick question about t-molding...if you need to repaint a cab that already has t-molding on it, can you remove it and replace it later? Or, would you then need to install new t-molding? I'm not sure how robust the stuff is. Can anyone shed some light on this for me, please?

Thanks

hi

I suppose it depends on how old/brittle it is but it can be removed, t mould is referring to the shape it just pushes into a slot on the cab itself, when putting it back use a rubber mallet and bang it back into the slot

it should be fine

Well I can't find an old gutted DK or Popeye cab for my project so, buying a new replica DK cab so the t-moulding will be new. I will need to paint parts of the cab black and I've decided I want to have the outside of the cab turquoise as I prefer it to the original colour.

has it been built yet? just make sure they're not going to glue it in.

if its a new build might be worth asking for the parts in the colour you want rather than painting it

Will check it's not glued but I've not heard of anyone doing that so far.
The cab is pre coloured in either black or donkey kong blue. I don't think there is much negotiation on the colours as they're done by a cnc machine in mass production. They are flexible on the innards for fitment of a crt though. I don't mind painting...plus I will need to test a few turquoise variations as they don't always look the same once on the material.Rawsome2013-08-20 15:59:03

Okay, so think I may try and find an alternative means of getting the cab. It's actually made out of blue mfc and not painted. Don't fancy this to be honest.

Old cabs seem to have proper, tough rubber t-molding, and when I have tried to purchase new t-molding, I only ever find the cheap plastic variety. Perhaps I am looking in the wrong places, but something to bear in mind.
