Thought we'd have a Fighting Game this week though might have double this week being this might night have as much interest

Did I see this one in the arcades:cautious: not sure to be honest, used to play it quite a bit on the Commodore 64, not easy to play with Konix Speedking Joystick and having to use keyboard as well  just been looking at the home conversions and game play wise C64 and Amiga doesn't please most, Amstrad version looked pretty good, Spectrum doesn't look great but don't have to use Keyboard as well

So I haven't got much on the Arcade but I think the game is pretty awesome, nice to have some speech with Good Luck Kid and Get Lost Punk
I bought PCB, though not sure if I have original or bootleg now, need to catalogue all my stuff, I also have Marquee and Monitor Surround Plastic
No official Cabinet, Just kit to convert old cabs

Not sure how good this was in 1986 graphics wise, not really looked at what preceded it fighting wise apart from Kung Fu Master

Features I like is Boss standing by till you dispatch some of his gang, you and the gang being able to run gives it a bit of panic while playing, kneeing and throwing them is good and when there down punching there face left-right-left-right :D

Worst is getting used to controls with it having left and right attack so you have to keep switching, you forget after playing other fighting games and get confused for a while
I thought it was me that's not great at games but seems others find it challenging too

Anyone a fan of this or remember it in the Arcades?

Had a birthday party, got a TV thing for my Amstrad. Played Renegade in colour, bleed everywhere 😆 but nobody cared. Managed to rent a Betamax Wheels On Meals for the party also. Can't remember what the other film was, and who cares when there a nutter that thinks he's an alarm clock!!! Take me back there 💪🕹️

My Renegade experience was on the Amstrad as well. The graphics were incredible and you could pummel people’s heads in!

Was it a 2p game or did that come in with Target Renegade?

I think the OG Japanese game was set in a school wasn’t it?

another CPC464 Renegade fan, i was probably about 8 and thought it was the best game ever

you can grab people and knee them in the conkers, and you could go to ground and punch people in the face...a fantastic game, never did see it in the arcade though

thought target renegade was rubbish

One of the first games I played that had such blatant move reading!
At times it felt you was controlling the enemies.

It's one of the few games that didn't have a lot of coverage round by me, the unofficial sequel Double Dragon was much more popular. I can't remember where I played it but I have very fond memories of the C64 version. Good old C64 space bar game, I never understood why there wasn't a joystick/joypad with more than 1 mapped button. The knife guys were brutal, 1 stab and you was dead!

I own the Japanese version on PCB, Nekketsu Koha Kunio-kun. No idea if mine is a boot as some I've seen have square white (Taito?) stickers on them and others have coloured circular stickers on them. It's one of my favourite games and even the boots seem to be 1:1 copies so it's all good on the gameplay front.

Should of bought the Japanese one myself, nice seeing the orignal Technos version

I think I used my foot to press space bar because you needed both hands with Konix, I used to break all the other joysticks, seemed if I pushed stick harder you jumped further on platform games:LOL: konix was only one I didn't break

Crazy when you have all those keys on Computer and only have one fire button on joystick port

Heh, for some reason I pictured Vigilante in my head :giggle:.
I never knew Renegade existed until recently - for all the praise heaped on Double Dragon for being influential, you can see they did a lot of it in Renegade.
But the graphics/art haven't aged very well o_O
