Afternoon Chaps,

In my latest blogpost, I share my experiences of running a Retro Games Club. Check out what we did, how we did it, and how long it all took. That way, if you ever decide to run a club of your own, you can side-step the logistical problems, and start with the dial wanged all the way round to 11!

Enjoy!

i wouldnt even try,
this cuntry is very anti-anything.
yearly fire inspections,
regular wiring inspections,
bussiness tax - that you even pay on an empty building if it's in your name!
yearly "anti-piedo" licenses from the police - £80 last time i looked to enable interacting with kids.
the costs never end!

Times are tough for any business. But the post isn't about running a business, it's about running a club to raise money for charity...

What the hell is this?
i dont know what it's called,
it's some relativly new crap from the government,
anybody working with kids needs an anual permit that you buy from the police.
they of course dont call it "buying" - they say it's to cover the cost of a background check.

Even if you think you’ve never heard of them before, you might already know about DBS checks. In December 2012, DBS checks replaced what was previously known as a criminal record (CRB) check.
A DBS check allows an employer to see your criminal history.
DBS checks are often carried out at the start of your employment, or just before an employer decides to hire you. Depending on the level of check required for your role, the employer will be able to find out any criminal convictions you may have, outstanding or otherwise, in order to inform their recruitment process and ensure that safer recruitment practices are enforced in their workplace.
Safer recruitment is necessary when it comes to safeguarding individuals, particularly children and vulnerable adults. If you are applying for a role that brings you into contact with either of these groups, it is a legal requirement that your employer carries out an enhanced DBS check before you start working for them.

Think they needed to do some of these checks on the BBC and ITV employees over the last few decades

Yes, that's right. If you've been involved in a group like the Scouts or worked with kids in schools etc. you should have one of them as a matter of course. The organisation will usually pay for it. Not everyone involved has to have one, but if an adult is being left in charge of kids or vulnerable adults, they should.
