Morning All,

My latest blog steps away from the arcade scene to the 8-Bit Era of home computers.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to join me on a journey through the retail landscape of Cumbernauld Town Centre in the 1980s. Better steel your nerves first, though - the nostalgia overload will make you cry!

CHECK IT OUT!

Hi Everyone,

I've recently had the chance to get back to Cumbernauld (lucky me!), and add some new photos to a couple of my previous blogposts. One covers 'the arcade' that wasn't with a side-step into Vectrex land. The other covers my personal home computer journey, from the 16K Spectrum, through the Commodore 64, to the strange but ultimately lucky story of how I finally secured a Commodore Amiga.

In writing them, I spent a lot of time chasing ghosts, finding old photos of the 'Town Centre' and recreating the same scenes in new photos before the whole sorry ediface gets demolished. I'm sure that most of you will be able to relate. Check them out for a top-up of 80s nostalgia.

I'd missed this one first time around, it's. a great post.

I was always a gen behind in those days, but went down a similar path, Vic20, 128k Spectrum, A500+ ...then the PC around 96-97 'ish. Actually didn't get hold of a PS1 until about 2000 consoles just weren't a thing for me.

Out of all of them, the A500+ still has a mega special place in my heart, can't lie. The hours I spent with that machine will be off the charts. My original from 91 is still actually in bits, really do need to finish off fixing it up!

Thanks Funk. Glad you liked it. I think it'd be hard to grasp how special those things were if you hadn't been around. Especially the Amiga. It was a literal game changer! Hope your triage is successful!
