Was this with the 'camping' technique or just playing 'normal'?

I do hunt the ufo's at the end of each wave just to make the score go up a bit quicker. I don't camp in the score though.

On getting mine up and running I know you can't camp in the score in my revision... also the little ba$%£^d spaceship CAN shoot wrap around shots which I was lead to believe was not the case... grrrr!

I also have the hardest rom set and it feels so bloody unfair sometimes when the small saucer does an instashot, wrap around direct hit as soon as it appears!

Me too...I were playing Defender about 2 cabs away from the Asteroids...Dave was in play when I started my Defender game and some 500.000+ later I got 'game over' and Dave was still playing

and that's when I popped through to the bar area and saw you Tony

Yeah, when the saucer is imminent, you really need to not be near the left or right edge of the screen. It also helps to be moving at least a little bit; otherwise it takes too long to gather evasive manoeuvrability. Circle strafing seems to help confuse the aim of the little saucer too.
