Marble Madness

I got this one from Archer, as-is working condition. The screen was pretty badly burned and the sides has been painted gloss with a roller. Work included sanding the sides down, repainting them (Rustoleum is brilliant for this but it takes weeks to fully harden), fitting new side art (unfortunately theres a small crease on the other side near the front edge - vinyl stretched while I was trying to peel and reposition part of it that got caught in a breeze). After all that I dinged the top back corner of the wood getting it through the doorway.. f**k. It's still very nice though. Also fitted new bearings/balls and some LED lighting kits that illuminate the trackballs, they're adjustable and I've turned them down quite low so it's a nice subtle effect. Got a much better monitor courtesy of a cheap scrap sys1 cab, and a front door without chunks taken out of it.

Moon Patrol

Came from Archer as an cheap n cheerful shell. Put a brand new monitor in it, fitted a switching power supply and some tidier wiring, and a working PCB. That's pretty much all I've done to this one, it's not worth putting more time into as the cab is showing its age and the grain is rising quite obviously across most of the sides, it would need to be fully repainted to make it really nice again.

Afterburner

Can't remember who I got this from, it was working but the side art was bubbling all over the place, and it needed a general tidy up. Work included a brand new screen (old one was burned so much you could identify 3 different games when it was switched off), new lighting to replace the hilarious fairground lights I found inside, new back door, rebuilt controls, repainting speaker grilles, and I peeled off the most bubbled art and re-glued it. Unfortunately it looks no better than it did before, the adhesive gummed up and it's sort of bumpy, although the really big bubbles have gone.

And yes I had to sit in Turbo to get a picture of the side - it's cramped in that room...

Forgotten Worlds

Bought this from Jon Exidy and imported it from the US. Work included rebuilding the front bottom corners as they'd been broken off, new t-molding, brand new screen, rebuilt controls, built in stepdown (massive thing) and repairing the PCB. The side art has been vectored by a friend, just need to get it printed to finish this one. Bezel does have fold marks half way up, but it's not colour faded like most of them.

I'm on the lookout for a better panel too - this one looks fine but the lower curve along the metal has quite a bit of cracking on the yellow of 'WORLDS'. T molding isn't nice and flat like it should be - they simply don't make chrome (which apparently was standard) anymore with a thick enough channel, so it was quite loose fitting and had to be hot glue assisted with small blobs here and there.

Space Firebird

Nice little Nintendo table, although I think I'm going to have to sell it. All I had to do to this one was replace the clear plastic disc covers on the joysticks, replace two buttons, and repair the sound board. Oh, the locks were all missing too. I really like this one because it's totally unmolested, there are no modifications, hacks or unsightly repairs and the original info sheets are still inside the lid. Could do with vectoring the instruction card though as the red has faded.

Star Wars

Bought from Archer as-is, artwork is in excellent condition, but the screen is a Wells Gardner (like so many are now), so the geometry is a little out, and it's discoloured in the bottom left corner. Unfortunately I don't have any really good pictures of this one.

Europlay II JAMMA cabs

I now have a pair of Europlay II JAMMA cabinets. These are my favourite types I've come across, finding a second took quite a long time actually. Both have an easy rotation system and Suzo 500 joysticks. The slightly odd button layouts are due to the useless default button positioning - I might get new metal panels made at some point. Board bays are huge which is useful for storage ;)

Really nice collection you have there. Some not so common games amongst it too which makes it all the more interesting.

The Turbo I've mentioned before but I really like Forgotten Worlds too, have never seen one of those before. Be sure to put up more pics of it when you have the sideart on!

EDIT: As more pics have been added since my post. WOW that Black Widow looks absolutely amazing!!

Time Crisis II

This one lives in the garage. I haven't really started with it yet - was sold to me as working and it does boot, but the left screen is so dim the gun doesn't really target on it, and the wiring between the control panel and main cabinet is badly damaged where the seller took it apart 'roughly'... Since the photo was taken the light/speaker box is at least back on, but I found damage to the blue gun loom too. I'd say it needs about a solid day of work to be up and playable, it's one of the next on the list now that I have space to move in the garage again.

Bride of Pinbot

Home use only! This was won in a competition by a UK player when the game was released, in a US pinball tournament. I've still got photocopies of the presentation photos. It's in excellent condition and has just been fully stripped and cleaned (and people who have bought/seen machines I've shopped will know what that means) as some of the rubbers were a bit old and grubby. It looks like yellowing at the right slingshot in the second picture, just a shadow and lighting effect. Follow the link for more pics.

Mystery Castle

Amazingly rare game from Alvin G, estimates now suggest a run of only 200 units based on all gathered serial numbers. The first 20 of these have prototype art, mine is one of them. I bought it recently from Paul's 50's, sold as being fully working with a perfect playfield.

Yeah well, let's just say I'm currently asking him for a part refund... I found several small and not so small chips in the playfield, dirt which is ground into the finish on some lanes, the sound and lamp matrix had faults too which are now repaired. To top it off the shipping company damaged the cabinet.

I'll upload pictures when I've finished working on it, for now here's two from the sellers site - looked great in all his pics, shame.

Torpedo Alley

Great and rare pin from Data East, with the most cheesy translite in history. The game itself is just right, basic without being boring, lots of nice touches with the lighting and terrific music. I bought the machine from Jon Whyatt many years ago, owned it for a while and sold it to another collector, who sold it to another collector. It's back now, but while it's been away it's had a hard life :( I'm going to have to do a lot of work on this one unfortunately.

Pictures pending.

Big Hurt

Great baseball themed pinball from Gottlieb - really underrated in my opinion. It gives you a proper big game feel and an excellent main ramp which essentially has 9 possible outcomes. There's a bit of playfield wear on this one and the gold wireforms are very tarnished, but I have a slightly better example playfield to install. I really need to get that into the machine sooner rather than later as it lives in the garage and it'd be a shame if the nice clean wireforms start to corrode. Maybe I'll do it tomorrow!

Gold Wings

Unusual Top Gun inspired table from Gottlieb - this one has a proper air siren built into the cab. I haven't set it up yet but it does need some new plastics and a speaker grille for starters, and the ramp could do with replacing. Got it cheap though, should be fun!

Gauntlet II

Bought on ebay non working, and that was certainly accurate. The monitor chassis had issues, and the AR3 couldn't supply 5v under load - but that was OK because the power brick was blowing the 23 amp fuse anyway ;) The panel was covered with some kind of nightmare spray varnish that took 2 hours to remove. Everything is fixed now, it just needs some locks. I'll be selling this one - I bought it as a repair project.
