BMA (Stoke) Tech Meet Gaming Night – 15th August

My wife’s off to some awful Country music festival on Saturday 15th August so I thought I’d arrange a meet at our home arcade, which is in Stoke (ST3 area).

If you’re not familiar with the Blue Moose Arcade then take a look at this video (things have changed a bit since this was recorded though)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7q5kHCbNQQ

As I have an ever-increasing mountain of non-functional cabs and faulty monitors and PCBs, I am hoping there might be a few technically-gifted people out there that would like to come and help me fix some stuff during the day. If you can diagnose faults or repair PCBs or monitors, or have experience of pinball machine maintenance, you’d be especially welcome, but there are plenty of less technical jobs that need doing as well.

So the Tech Meet would be from 2:00-6:30pm and anyone that helps out will get free soft drinks and snacks, plus anything they want from my random box of unwanted arcade/gaming/retro crap!

I may also be willing to pay an hourly rate to anyone that has the skills to fix monitors or PCBs – PM me to discuss if this is of interest.

From 7:00pm till late (let’s say midnight) it will be a straightforward gaming night on any cabs that are working. The current working cab count is 11 (out of 16) although some of those have minor issues.

So if you’re interested, post here and if there’s enough interest I will get something sorted out!

Definitely interested, I'm only in ST4, not far away. I'm afraid my tech skills won't win any medals, but happy to help out if I can.

Count me in if it's going ahead, I would have replied before but I've been on a self-imposed UKVAC ban due to cashflow and space issues.

What cabs have you got?

Some great games there, especially Cosmic Alien, shame about the sounds as they're great for 1980, when the aliens swish down. Q*bert too, must be on everybody's wish list. Never seen a DECO cassette in the flesh, would like to though...

Well I don't actually have the Cassette system any more - I gave it to Alpha1. The cab is a sympathetic MAME conversion which is currently out of action due to a knackered Hard Drive (this after the video card crapped out - talk about bad luck!)

I wish, I'm only up the road too (ST10) :(
I will be spending Saturday the same way I've spent the last 12 Saturdays, working on my bathroom. The other half lets me keep my cabs in the house, got to keep her sweet :)

Sorry, hopefully next time :)
