did you buy it off ebay?

looks like a rich's bar top

not a nice guy to deal with once he has your money
Is he not? I've been thinking about buying one of those for my desk in the office now I don't have a cab in there.

I brought one from him it was a standup and it arrived being the proto he used on his listing

the MDF was frayed, the MDF had holes in it from the connector blocks, and couldn't be re screwed in as MDF frays if you try to rescrew into it

and he just eventually stopped responding to my emails and it was gonna cost me more to resend back to him than to just keep it

the conclusion was just don't deal with the guy

The joiner blocks are fine for quickness (they're the same sort of thing they use in kitchen cabinets and other flat-packed stuff by the looks of it). They're probably ok if the unit isn't going to be picked up and moved too often. I think i'd probably add to the strength a bit though by drilling a few holes here and there and using wood glue and dowels. Doesn't make it easy to get back apart though but I don't suppose that matters really!

oh yeah connector blocks aren't really the ideal thing to use

my main annoyance was that he sent me is already assembled and photographed piece when I in fact paid for a NEW item

oh and the bottom piece was missing which I had to cut a new and also nothing to mount the monitor was present either

If I ever get the time i'd like to design and build a little bartop that uses a 14" crt. I intend though to use 3/4 inch square wood section to join each side together. I think it'll be fairly strong that way (as well as the dowels). Basically like a wood frame clad with MDF/chipboard!

yes I bought one from Rich, it was ok...

the blocks are not strong enough for the thickness of the wood, you have to use really short screws which are no good, so it was kinda falling apart as I was building it, instead I drilled straight through and used coach bolts,, there was also no instructions so I had to put it together like a jigsaw, not hard for me but for other people who have never worked on arcade machines etc before I'm guessing they wouldn't be too happy, there was also 1 piece missing, can't remember which piece now but something was amiss?

He's also bought the really cheap buttons off ebay and drilled the holes for these, but the really cheap buttons are smaller then the normal ones, luckily I had some so I knew what he'd done, its also impossible to re-drill bigger holes

apart from these 3 issues = connecting blocks no good, holes too small, no instructions, it was ok for the money,,

There's a good market out there for these kits, and I reckon if someone had the enthusiasm to build these properly, and post them all ready built, someone could make more money then they are getting at the moment

i went with richs because my original choice 'arcade warp' took my money...but within 30 days sent me nothing, got my money back, ordered from rich who within 5 days had sent me the kit. he has a private group on FB for buyers and has been very helpful to me so far...
