[ukvac] Centipede tracker ball
I've just bought a Centipede PCB (I'm so excited), so now I need a
tracker-ball for it. Does anyone have one for sale at a reasonable price, or
know where I can get one from?

Thanks,

Alec

If I recall correctly Centipede can also be wired up to an 8 way
joystick... I'll have a look at mame......

Well I just checked the memory map in the source for the mame driver and
it documents the memory location for the the joystick, so it looks like you
can
use either a tracker or a stick!

Cheers

It can definitely. I have one wired up to jamma and it works fine with a
joystick. I also have a trackball wired up to it though. The game is
NOTHING if you play with the joystick. It comes to life when you add the
trackball.

Try Happ controls (www.happcontrols.com I think), they have all the bits you
need to fix a tracball, and the whole units. They're best part of $100
though. I'm sure XY-Man told me thay they made the originals for Atari. The
pictures on their web page look just like the one in my cab.

You can also use a joystick with it, email me for the pinouts, if you don't
have them. (Not the real thing though, is it?)

I've just bought a brand new trakball from Swallow amusements for £42.95 - It isn't exactly right for the cabaret I bought it for but it's close enough.

It works ok with a joystick anyway (I've been using one for 3 months) but you can't get enough control.
