Just been contacted by Channel 4 about valuing an Original Taito Space Invaders Upright, in "amazing" condition with a few cig burns on the plastic. They need an expert apparently
smiley36.gif

Allegedly it is "rare"

Based on sales I've seen in the last twelve months I'd say it's worth between £250 (needing some work) and £500 (fairly mint and working)

What do you guys think?

Anyone interested in being an expert for them? Welburn likes a bit of TV doesn't he

I don't know if they actually want any TV stuff or just a valuation at this stage. TV stuff, I'm not interested in

I'd say a fairly mint working SI upright, with original tube, monitor etc... is worth a little more; I'd go £650+ for the right buyer.

As for TV, well, TRM's a good looking chap; they could do a long tracking shot of him, oh I don't know, maybe working out at the gym or something; the camera slowly draws closer to him as he reaches his 200th rep on the chest press. The sweat is glistening on his bulging biceps and he grits his teeth as he pushes through the pain barrier. 'I need a Hero' by Bonnie Tyler is playing in the background:

"Excuse me, how much for an original Space Invader arcade machine in amazing condition? It only has a few fag burns. It's well rare."

"About £650 I'd say. "

"Great. Thanks"

lol, ok so for any actual TV work we are nominating Tim?

We can buy him a spangly suit aswell to fit the part?

I bet they probably got the "rare" quote for the spangly man himself

I've promoted UKVac here, by saying if they need any experts then I'm sure someone will assist from this forum.

I specifically mentioned Tim, as being the best

They are rare in that you can't buy them from Argos, but I would have to agree with the Jodo.

£650 - £700 for a minter.
£400 - £550 for a nice example.
£200 for a fair non-worker.

I insist that anyone that does any TV wears pointy ears and uses the word 'logic' a lot.Equites2013-11-19 21:30:35

Best 'for TV' could be somebody like Martin Delivery Man, since he is in the trade and allwayshas a nice van full of cabinets. Possibly then he could have his own spin off series - arcade salvage hunters

The chap with a penchant for spangly suits has already made an appearance on Four Rooms. Flogged a StarWars a trilogy for a grand.

I wonder who has rocked up (or wants to rock up) with an amazing SI. So amazing it's got fag burns on the CP.

£500. If working and original. At a push (sucks air through teeth, shakes head, looks uninterested).

I think the format of the show is that it's the seller and the four 'experts' appear. No one else. So I assume this is C4 doing a bit of research.

Edit: £585 delivered. Then w could stand Martin next to the cab with his sack truck.tb lilley2013-11-19 22:29:50

Martin the deliveryman would be great on TV. In fact a documentary following his day to day movements would be rather interesting, not just for the stuff he moves, but the people he meets and the gossip that gets talked.

Err actually where's my copyright lawyer...

Ok thanks for the feedback guys, I will pass it on. Good to know I'm not a million miles away from the price

If they want any TV duties I will be asking for volunteers

Ruins the magic if they are asking for expert opinions, when the 4 dealers bidding are meant to be in the know.

I had totally forgotten about this. Yes he valued the SWT at £2500
