Yeah I like the hofle recordings (I have them available as a background soundtrack in my gameroom), but they are constructed using MAME. The ones I linked to were actually recorded (on a cassette!) in the 80's in a real arcade by kids actually playing the game. I thought hearing them was kinda cool.

Back in the days of playing sounds on IRC in our #ukvac and also #arcade channels we had loads of sounds like this.

I love those recordings, they're great - but I wish you didn't have the kid that was doing them talking on there as well. The rest is really cool.

Actually, that's interesting just from the point of view of browsing through the titles!! I just spotted one that after all these years I've never heard of: "Marvin's Maze". It really is a rarity these days to discover a new game that you hadn't even heard of. Well, until you get past the early 80's anyway, I stopped paying attention by about 1986/7

Must admit I found the talking (well the conversation bits) part of the charm. Definatley reminded me of countless hours spent in arcades with my mates as a kid. We were always talking through games, offering tips, etc during them.
