Currently trying to refurbish an older rene pierre arcade (mostly done) cabinet, while checking out the wiring and patched some broken wires to the coin mech I'm wondering a bit about the mechanical coin counter.
From what I'v read they are mostly powered by 12 V, but on this cab it seem to be wired to the 5v, so wire comes from +5v psu, goes via mech coin counter and back to the "motor kontrol" pin of the coin control unit (as pictured below, brown cable).
I'v read somewhere this might be correct for some mech coin counters, but mine does not seem to engage when I press the test button on the coin control unit, only clicking noise I have is on the control unit itself. I also wired in a diode in parallel in regards to the coin counter as that was missing.
Should it engage from using the test button, or is there anything else wrong, the motor output seem to stay on a steady +5v
