Well, it was damn hot, but I made it round in an official
*** 2h 30m 16sec ***
in position 1199 out of 1465 pre-entered runners. (There were a few hundred
extra entries on the day who weren't timed.)
(Check for yourself at
http://www.raceahead.com/SearchEvents.aspx, look for
St Albans 1/2 Marathon 2006 & follow your nose.)
That time equates to Bet #12 as the winner, which had 6 bets, none of which
were from UKVAC and only 1 from UKPin (bizarrely enough, Nick @ PinsAnon,
who's already put up the free tickets to the show and has also put his
winnings back into the pot - top man!)
The total bet/sponsored was **£440** minus 6 people's winnings, which are
just under a ton, and I'll be squeezing some of that back from the winners
at work, tomorrow.
I don't know if it's a co-incidence, but all 6 winners are, were or work
with, stock traders. Now all I need to do is convert that sort of success
into my bonus at the end of the year...
The winners of the Pin Show tickets I've not worked out yet - I'll do that
tomorrow.
Thanks for your interest and for those of you who had a bet, have a piece of
special chocolate and hopefully we'll do it again sometime!
Phil
BTW, my next aim in life is to get a woman who wears lycra running shorts.
Mmmmmmm. Don't care what she looks like from the front...
