I am now using brand new SH-2 chips. The order of new chips came in and are working flawlessly. Will be reordering these chips as they have exceeded expectations:

OK guys,

I have my cart and Porchys and Mitsurigi-w is sending me an invoice for both carts to be converted to the Standard SH2 (the more expensive conversion).

It's too late now for any more people to send me your carts, I am sending them tomorrow morning!

Anyone else that wants this most awesome conversion please PM and sort shipping out to Mitsurigi-w yourselves!

what does a dead one do ?

i.e. I have a PCB & Cart, but no CD drive and I guess the battery is dead - so would it do anything to identify that the board works ?

It will ressurect dead carts dude. Just open the cart and measure the lithium battery - if it's under the 3.2 (I think - same process as measuring the battery on CPS2) volt threshold your cartridge is dead.

This then allows the one cart to play ALL CPS3 games.

And in regard to your missing CD drive - any SCSI based drive will work I believe.

1. Can do it with this SuperBIOS (easiest) or a 2nd Impact cart with the modified ISOs (more work)

2. SuperBIOS. All games will work once the final ISO is released. With standard SH-2 only 2I does not work yet

3. Can't do it. Just revive black CPS2 as stated above

A live cart will still boot without a CD drive but it will give you an error. Dead carts give you a scrambled or blank screen.

Most CPS3 carts shipped with 3V batteries rather than 3.6V like the CPS2. A 3.6V can be used, however. Once the voltage drops below about 2.8V it dies. Though a lithium battery will usually hold its charge until the very moment it dies. So if you aren't sure how old the batter ism you should probably change it.

For anyone who has a standard SH2 cart; please visit Darksoft's blog and download the beta version of 2nd Impact and test it out. Report any errors you may find on the blog or here. Once 2I is finished the Standard SH2 version will be complete and he can finish up the rest of the games for the custom version.

Just got another big shipment of new SH-2s. Ready to do some more carts for you guys.

BTW--I'm planning on selling a few full CPS3 SuperBIOS PCB kits. Everything you need to play every CPS3 game. Let me know if you are interested. $550 (shipping not included to Europe)
