Hi guys, I'm trying to help fix a Crazy Taxi.
I've finally managed to get the monitor working but now it's not booting up.
I get the Naomi screen fine, then it says Loading Crazy Taxi (31k) but then it freezes on the next screen.

Any advice?

I remember tackling this at Revival with you, you need to confirm the cart and the motherboard are OK.

Does the cart boot in another motherboard OK?

Does the motherboard boot another cart OK?

Yeah, Oli and I messed about with this at revivial a couple of years ago, and it passed RAM/ROM tests then IIRC, but worth a check again. Assuming they check out, I would check the 3.3v and 5v lines on the PSU.

Are you using it in an original Crazy Taxi cab, because I went through this issue with mine when I was trying to get CT working in Initial D cab, there was some extra wires that stops it working, some security thing, non one could tell me why at the time so I went through the wiring comparison with Jambo Safari cab it worked in to find the wires that were different

Try unplugging anything else you can too, so it's just motherboard, cart

here's the last thread on it, even if it's a crazy Taxi cab, check that it doesn't have those wires Geezer says, as you never know if it's been altered

hope that helps

Otto, do you have any other games to test the Naomi with?
If not, I have a fully working Sega Naomi setup and I'm not far from you (I live in Stafford).

If you want you could try out your cart on my Naomi, and/or I do have a spare Virtua Tennis cart if you want to borrow it test it on your motherboard.

Unplug the IO board from the front of the Naomi motherboard in the base of the cab and boot it up, i'm pretty certain it'll come up at that point but you won't be able to play it obviously.

If it does boot up without the IO board connected then check that the power connectors are not the wrong points on the board. The plugs will fit on both of the connectors but one is marked in and one is marked out, odd things happen with them the wrong way around.

I'm quoting from memory of U72's Crazy Taxi which had this problem for ages but would work for a while and then die and would freeze at the Loading screen. Fix credit on theirs goes to Singy1UK and Snap584.

The IO board was the culprit in the end for them I believe and its been stable ever since.

Inital d have a white loopback cable on pin 27 to 29 iirc which stop crazy taxi and jambo safari booting.

Remove that fixes it.

It also stops pedals working on club kart.
