Data limits on phones

I used up my 2gb about 13 days ago.. my phone is sh*te now and I still have 3 days to wait till it's reset... bloody sat nav program

Pay for more mate, if its helping you not smoke its a small price to pay in the long run.

Proper satnav unit is about 200 cigs worth and won't cane your data or battery.

Wife plus road atlas also works but is much more difficult.

I used that 2 gb in about 14 days, sat nav a couple of time then uploading small pics to FB

Do you use your data in the house, or do you connect to your wifi??
2GB is 2 weeks seems excessive, I have 1GB allowance, and I only ever got near the limit once in the past year.

Mine is only 500mb limit. Only ever reached the limit twice in June & July. That was NERG related

I don't use it for satnav.

What Satnav program are you using?

Some download the maps as you are moving, which absolutely kill your data, others have the maps already stored on your phone and then you can just update them when you are at home on wifi.

m8 mate, it's good one but think it's downloading as I'm moving. the Edinburgh to Manchester is what done it a reckon.

I'm going to phone them up and try and blag more data, I give the feckers about £115 p/m between 3 phones and have done for approx. 5 years, if that's not a good customer I don't know what is

If you are paying that much in data, have a look at some of the the others where the maps live in the device. Navfree is free and works well (just when the voice prompt tells you to take the second exit, check the screen as sometimes that means the 3rd exit!). TomTom is also only about £20 these days.

The other good thing about the ones that store the map in your device is that you still can see where you are going if you lose phone signal.

I'm changing cars soon. The next one doesn't have a built in sat nav. What is a good recommended purchase for iphone?

Didn't know whether to invest in a sat nav device or just use the blowa.

SatNav shouldn't use much data - I use it on my iPhone 5 (4G on EE) once or twice a week, and never reach my 500GB limit).

After using the iPhone nav, I'd never go back to a stand alone unit, it's just so much better - and I'm saying that as someone who generally dislikes Apple stuff.

Ironically, my last two cars have had decent Navtech sat nav built into the media systems and I vow never to go back to a mobile phone sat nav or standalone unit again. Mind you, my last two cars have cost me £15k and £21k respectively (second hand)
