They don't compare, thje gq4x4 is a £60-£80 bit of chinese rubbish, the 48pro2 (aka beeprog2) is hands down the best programmer you can get and costs about £1000.

I'll trade you for a gq4x4 for it if you like.

The Dataman is generally a higher quality product, but I don't know if the list of devices is as extensive. I had a Dataman 48LV many years ago (which I have since somehow lost

), but it was a very good programmer. I replaced it with a Wellon VP280 but there were definitely some devices it could do that the Wellon couldn't.

The 48pro2 is just a rebranded Beeprog2 it has the largest support of any programmer including proms and 2708s. You do need a power supply upgrade for some proms and an adapter for 2708s though.

There's no better modern programmer imo, the topmax 2 is a close second.

I have a dataman 48pro2. I think it's amazing. Has some built in options which I think are so useful like the repeat process button and manufacturers id checking etc so you don't blow the chip by accidently selecting the wrong one. Seemed to support all the chips I have had to burn so far. Has a little IC checker built in too although I haven't used that at all as I have a ABI boardmaster. I still prefer to use my data I/o for all the old stuff and proms though. Can't live without that one.

Agree with the above comments

I have both. The GQ is my day-to-day programmer and tends to be quicker than the Dataman but the Dataman programmes much more. I have the extra power supply and 2708 module and there isn’t much it won’t do.

I have the pro2 and it's just great. Expensive adapters but does most things I've ever wanted and their support is great too.
Sounds like you got yourself a bargain with it

I've got the dataman 40-pro and it's a great bit of kit, I also have the GQ-4X and mini pro 866.

If you don't want the dataman or cant get on with it, I'll buy it off you or trade the GQ-4X and some adapters for it.

Biggest downside with the dataman's is the adapters are expensive and to get latest software etc you need a £150 annual maintenance contract.
