Thought I should make my own thread instead of spamming the other one

Not sure what the clicking is but it's 25 years old so probably needs some lube somewhere!J692019-08-19 09:38:49

there should be valves going off to rapidly release the pressure, it sounds like its clicking when it should be doing the release.

Well I guess a good start would be to take it apart and try to find what exactly is clicking. I've got 2 spare pistons if needed. I'm just going to enjoy playing it for now though. I could really do with sourcing the seat covers they had on them in the states as it wrecks your back chucking you around the hard plastic seat

IS it not just the solenoids clicking, to release the air?
We can see it certainly is releasing and moving at the correct time. So appears to be doing its job.

Perhaps just seems loud in your surroundings and game volume?

Or does it seem that loud - that it indicates something up?

Is it just like a namco gun recoil?

No it's not massively loud. You can see it at the 1min mark in the video. The car doesn't touch anything on screen but the pistons click and move slightly. I need a visit to that arcade in Rhyl to compare!

Its hard to tell, but is the effect doing "G force"?
So if you turn left then the machine leans you right? throwing your weight to outside of the car?

The Effects...

Just like the FFB in wheel, I can only assume it uses "canned" effects.

This is where the game doesn't use physics calculations to make up unique forces based on exactly what the car is doing, but rather they are predefined and come in a "can" and the effect is called upon depending on what you do.

This logic may help you analyse what it is doing, and the movement it creates.

But at 1min it does seem odd, is it doing it a lot? or was that a one off discrepancy ?

Yeah the seat moves right as the car turns left. It clicks every 20 seconds or so. I've only had a few goes this morning. It's not particularly noticeable or off putting in game but I just want to make sure I don't wreck anything. Like I say, when I get some time I'll take the seat off and try to pinpoint what exactly is clicking. May be a sticky release valve or something

Been testing this afternoon.

The cab is definitely letting out pressure through valves. You can hear to discharge.

When I go into the test menu there are 2 options for "quick breath right" and "quick breath left". These both make 1 loud click each when you test them.

I wonder if the in game clicking is some sort of rapid fire quick breath? Not sure what that means?

Ok, so the compression timings are too fast on one side of the seat, by about 400%. I suspect the quick breath is clicking to compensate in some way one that side straightens up. It only seems to happen when the left piston is extended and then retracts. Right side seems fine

A quick breath sounds like = Air in, Air dumped - once quickly

Because if us humans do one breath thats what we do.

It appears the system works by letting air in to push the piston up. Valve/discharge to let the piston down with weight, pushing the air out.

The click being a solenoid to open either in or out valve. So far, my guess is that the clicking will always be there. But the ultimate check is looking at the valves and seeing what moves when it clicks. I do however notice it doesn't click once per a action, sometimes doesn't click and other times it does, and some clicks when not moving - would that be correct?

Bizarrely it always does 3 or 4 quick clicks as it passes under the slot reels. Even if the car is straight and the pistons are level. Almost like the game PCB is coded to click at that point. I've had my mate who fixes crane hydraulics round this afternoon and he can't figure it out either.

I have 2 spare pistons so I'll swap them in and see if it makes a difference

brilliant so good to see it actually moving ! :)

Cool isn't it.

£40 for a 2nd hand compressor, £3 for 2 hose connectors from screwix and a couple of changes in the menu settings and it was good to go!

I wish you had kept the other one now so I could compare the 2 games
