If reseating doesn't work the first (and cheapest) boards to try replacing would be the 2 smaller ones on top (rom and comms)
I should have a spare (or 3) in my parts black-hole somewhere...

So, I noticed the top board wasn't proper seated at one of the white connectors. After removing I found one of the pins was bent in two places. I separated all the boards, straightened the bent pin and crossed everything. Did it work?

......

No.

But I do now have a different colours on the screen

Lift the top board and make sure pins are not bent.

P.S These are a little new for me hence me not helping much as such !

If someone close by is able to lend you a stack to troubleshoot with them you can swap boards around.
If you get stuck, I’ve probably got the 2 shorter boards spare that you can test with but I’ll need to dig them out and test them to ensure they’re good.

Cheers, I'll have a search locally first and see what I can find 👍

Ha ha! I cleaned it up and still the same! Which led me to checking possible noisy 5v line (no idea what I was doing!?), increasing voltages, changing PSUs, (lots of helpful advice from the legend @channel27  ) I was at Jewson's at 8am to get contact cleaner – nothing changed but I learnt a trick from Ken irepairsega involving shorting PC62 decoupling cap to "pull voltage back up and clear content RAM"! Didn't work for me though!

Sooo... let's just do some board swapping then as first planned – I was pretty sure it was the CPU board on the original that was toast as it had three scorch-like marks on it – so was just hoping the video board was ok.

And...

DAAYTOOOOONAAAAAAH!!!! HA ha!

Had me on a crazy trip with a supposed working stack that didn't – not surprised as it had been stored in clay! – but learnt loads from this and am happy Dan :D

Lots more to do, monitor has a bit of foldover on the top and sizing, shifter needs looking at or replacing next on the list.

I did also reseat the ROMs on the game board, I don't think it was that that fixed it though - would be a bonus if it was, but tend not to get too many of them! 😆
