Decided to make Parasol Stars JAMMA a reality...

I got fed up of seeing the "was Parasol Stars ever released in the arcades" question so I've ordered a PC-e from eBay and will hack it to run in a cab. Got the PS ROM image on here and I know I've got at least one of the PS HuCards from some time back.

So hopefully in a couple of weeks we'll be able to answer the "was PS ever played on a cab" question

I recall some guy a long time ago asking about this and IIRC I figured it was possible but he had trouble understanding/explaining some of the wiring of his PC-e so I wasn't able to explain to him what mods to make.

So I figured I'd just DIY and stick up some vids. I've not played PS in years so I hope it's not going to suck, but I have an OCD about completeness

If Porchy has wired a PC-e to JAMMA then I'll give him a ping as knowing him he'll have solved any hard problems!

it seems there was a semi-official pc-engine to jamma type conversion kit, seen a few on ebay

so it is possible that they were used to bung parasol stars into cabs

Macro - I saw my first definite proof of a JAMMA PC-e the other day when looking at console devkits, so it's quite possible they were out there, somewhere.

ZX48 - well the thing from eBay is hopefully on its way so there'll be another one soon

Ahh, I think you're talking about my jamma pc-e. When I got it it wasn't working properly and I sent it to Porchy who very kindly offered to take a look and try and fix it as he wanted to have a proper look at it and document what exactly was on the board and dump any interesting roms.

I wanted it for the sole reason on playing Parasol Stars in a cab as I've got the rest of the Bubble series and I'm a massive fan of the games and this is by far the best way to go about it.

Is the adapter board itself generating the game over and credit bits, or is that part of the game?

That's part of the game. The jamma converter blocks any control inputs until a credit is inserted.

I have one similar, do you know if its possible to rotate the pic or do i have to rotate the monitor??

You have to rotate the monitor. You have controls for contrast and rgb gain on the pcb to adjust the pic though.

Darn! Then it wont work in my BB cab with a JAMMA switcher :/ unless you want to rotate the monitor between games....
Hope its another story in my RI cab....

Mine is the same way up as BB and Rainbow Islands.

I do have the problem with some upside-down boards though, I added a yoke flip switch to my cabinet so I can flip the picture if required.
