Start £0 HERE Goal £1500

Current donation pledge = £1105!!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Moderators, Dev Team and Admins at UKVAC love providing enhanced functionality to the UK collecting scene for all things VAC!

We want to provide you, our members, with the most awesome collector database we can, but if we want to see this project come to fruition in the not so distant future we need your help!

We thank all the VAC.Backers that have helped towards the costs of running the server and the hosting, as well as contributing to getting machines to shows and helping fund all the awesome t-shirt giveaways that we do. However to truly get a collector database off the ground we are going to need more support!

We kindly ask that if you want to see this happen, you respond to this post that you are willing to donate and the amount. If you prefer to stay anonymous please just PM me your details so it can be added to all calculations.

To have all the features and functionality we want to add (some of which will be announced prior to the platform coming online), we need to raise around £1500..

That's a lot of cash and we are all happy to help put our own money in to fund it, but we need your help too!

We call on anyone that thinks this is a worthwhile cause to donate for the collectors database!

And thank you to all that have supported us so far

We will start to leak details of the collector databases functions and features over the next week or two, however some will remain a secret until the launch.

We will be looking at creating a new elevated group in UKVAC that will sit under the Moderators, any members that get promoted to this new role will have admin and edit functions to the collectors database. We will be looking for interested parties to file this role.

Thanks guys and game on

Is there any way to get more information?

Particularly:

1) Why there is a need to have a database. What's the idea behind it?
2) What the database will include?

Happy to support new features, but I need to understand the idea behind them and what benefit they will bring before committing

Is this going to be a database built within the current software or something that bridges it?

I might be interested in more involvement you see.

Eitherway i will contribute though.

Hi guys,

Ok a little late but here as some of the project goals

The system will have admins that manage it - this will be a new role at UKVAC

The system will allow serials, and provide a 'match' capability should you allow it to home an original PCB for example, to the original cab.

You will be able to hide certain items from public view, by utilising the buddy list feature. Only want your close collector friends to view your collection then apply this to all items in the collection

You can list items for sale, we are planning on providing Paypal integration for all forum users. Put an item in your list for sale at £x price, and put your Paypal username in, and someone can click though and buy it using the Paypal checkout feature.

Have 10 items that are the same like above? For example 10 superguns. Set the quantity to 10, the for sale system will count them down to 0 as they sell.

Price input will be supported, allowing you to see what you bought your collection for, this data can be used to help provide 'price guides' on PCBs and cabs when someone is just browsing a game.

The aforementioned collectors admins can also input pricing to help kick start the above.

Export to excel function. Need to export it into Office? Then do it.

That's as much as we're willing to disclose for now other than we plan to make it look extremely pretty with charts and graphs and hopefully some kind of other tie in.

Sounds great and the serial matchign sounds like an interesting idea.

I wanted to start a simialr site to try and pull together mismatched MVS carts and Kit boxes (and possibly other systems) but that seemed too bigger ajob to get any useful data into it, but if you could incorporate that then it may become useful.
