One of my favourite racing games, with handling and challenge on a par with Sega Rally (in my humble opinion
). Multiple possible routes, opponents, and traffic add to the interest. Different cars have different drifting and tilting (side-wheely) mechanics as well.
Not playable in MAME, so doesn't get the attention it deserves, but there must be others out there who have the hardware and love this game.
I've got a Thrill Drive 2 cab I can play it in, but mostly play it using a hacked Dreamcast wheel (so the PCB stays out of the cold!).
My times are all on Medium difficulty, and in Time Attack Mode, using the 'Tuned Up' default red car (looks like a Mini):
Town: 1'55"329 (MT)
Coast: 2'11"899 (AT)
Mountain: 2'42"701 (AT)
Promotion Mode (all 3 tracks, one after the other): 6'53"960 (AT)
Plenty of room for improvement on Mountain, Coast, and Promotion mode, but times I'm fairly happy with at the moment.
