awesome day there

played on the star wars battle pod awesomeness right there but at £18000 plus VAT a lot more than my jaw dropped

played on Mario DX, wiped the floor off the opponents as it was a 4 player and the funny thing is I never played it before but came in first every time

also did enjoy a few redemption machines like jet pack joy ride, plants vs zombies, flappy birds and a few others

didn't get a chance to play Jurassic park or time crisis 5 as it was always occupied

took a small amount of pics as olly took loads so hopefully he will post them up

I also made a quick video of Olly on the battle pod so enjoy it

Star Wars looks amazeballs :)

the cabinet itself is great, the screen allows you to immerse yourself in the game BUT I found the game play itself so resticting-basically you go exactly where the game wants to take you

one of the better games at the show though

less said about sega's offerings the better tbh

where were you mate I was looking around for ya (so was olly)

every one has their own opinion on the game and for me it was that feature I liked that it wants you to go a certain direction

makes the game a little easier and more enjoyable to play for the novices

but for the experts I can see it being a little restricting

it almost had a cinematronic feel to it like Dragons Lair and others which I do like

I know what you mean

yeah andypc was the one that told us you was there today

I played the jetpack joyride arcade with the force feedback seat

I thought it was awesome

one of the first games I had on IOS and it was great on the machine as an arcade

in fact when I first played it and the seat started shaking I thought someone was tapping me on the shoulder and I had to look round

EAG 2015 - The Amusement and leisure show

Happy new year to every one on UKVAC and I hope you all had a great christmas. I was lucky enough to get weekly access this week to EAG2015 at the London Excel. This happens to be one of London's biggest amusement shows of the year, held exclusively for those working in the amusement industry. the likes of Namco, Sega, Bandai, Electrocoin, Stern pinball, Jersey Jack Pinball and lots more were all present to show what they have on offer in the near future.

It was an arcade enthusiasts and gamers dream come true! I got to play loads of up and coming arcade games and pinball machines for free today, and there is some cool stuff waiting to be released to the public in the not to distant future.

Highlights for me were the NAMCO/BANDAI stand, playing Time Crisis 5 (stunning), Star Wars Battle Pod (Its really like being in the movie!), Aliens Armageddon ( Time Crisis on Steroids with huge recoiling machine guns! - a personal fave of the show for me), Jurassic Park (Similar to the Sega super scaller Pseudo 3d shooter from way back) in glorious 3D, Batman - a pretty cool driving/shooting game in a lovely cabinet, MarioKart Arcade GP DX (Could have been better IMO), Super Alpine Racer (Brilliant Fun) and this was just the Namco stand!

I found the Sega stand dissapointing as there were mostly redemption games and air hockey on display and only a few video games (The disappointing Transformers Shooter- Those guns are terrible on the cabinet and the game play limited IMO) and a couple of new racing games which did look cool but so unoriginal for a company like SEGA.

Expect to see lots of iOS games appearing in your arcade soon. I think this is where the video arcade industry is heading in this country, which is kind of a shame for us traditional gamers as we may be kissing good bye to traditional joystick controlled games! Good if you develop though, Still, may be fun if you like winning tickets for prizes! I think kids will love these type of games! And they do seem fun! Shame for the hardcore gamer though.

I could go on as I experienced everything the show had to offer. Was really great fun to play the latest Stern Pinball Games (WWE and the Walking Dead) and to play the brand new remake of Williams 1996 Medievil Madness Pinball game - was a very special moment for me! I want one! Jersey Jack Pinball was also present with their offerings, The Wizard of Oz and The Hobbit - Great games I must say! Lovingly put together!

A special mention goes out to Heighway Pinball (yes it is spelt that way!) the UKs first Pinball manufacturer! I wish them the best of luck with their new machine (which is similar to the Williams Pinball 2000 cabinet - interchangeable tables, with a small flat screen in the table). Their launch party for the game is this Friday somewhere in London!

Apart from all the latest Arcade games the show is chock full of the latest redemption games, slots, kiddie rides and more.

Of course being a show I took goodie bags and all the promotional stuff I could grab - Its on for one more day (15th January).

Heres a link to a short video I've put together of some of the show and me playing some games. Hope you enjoy my take on a classic video game tune I made for the video! Can you tell what game its from?

I will post some pictures up of the show when I get another spare moment.

All the best, Thanks for reading! Watching!

Cool videos and pics guys!!!
Really nice for us that could not attend (mostly as during the week), however it is a trade show after all. Lots more games than the old ATEI shows, which had a lot of gambling machines, etc.

Love those SW Pods!!! Looks like a re-vamp of the SW Trilogy, with newer graphics and more guidance (arrows) along with those 'combo' things.

Nice also to see Pacman related stuff still doing well.
-I remember playing on a mad Air-Hockey Pacman machine in IOW, which dumps huge amounts of discs onto the playfield - great stuff!! :)

Cheers,
DaveO.
