i have a request.,..
currently i recieve an email when someone replies on a thread i have posted on... the email contains the new post..
when i receive a PM on the forum, i receive an email saying i have a PM... but doesn't show me the actual PM, i have to log in and get the message...
Surely this should be the other way around?
A PM is an important, personal message, and i would like to know its contents as soon as possible, but i'm often not near a computer to login to the forum (emails on phone)... It would be great to know the contents of the PM in the notification email to know whether i should find a pc to go and log in to reply straight away.
Instead, i get an email everytime someone posts in a thread, and i get to see the (usually inane) one-liners - that i dont need to see, and besides, the notifacation is just that, one line, no context, so its gibberish anyway without seeing the thread, you dont know what its in response to.
Surely, to encourage more people to visit the forum, you should get an email informing you there has been a response to a thread you posted on... and invite you to log into the forum to read whats going on, being able to see the whole conversation in context... seeing the messages arrive in my inbox with their contents totally doesn't make me want to log into the forum.
Or do i just not have my settings set properly? surely the default should be to pull people to the forum to contribute to discussions, and private messages should be seen in the notification email...
