Emulating Outrun 2...

It's becoming harder and harder to find working Chihero Systems so to keep these machines going, in some instances emulation seems to be the only way going forward. Has anybody done this for Outrun 2 yet? I want to convert an original cab but get it as near to the original experience as possible.

Hi there,

I did the same thing some years ago with my Outrun 2 cab, you could try http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,155979.0.html which is a pc version of Outrun 2 running with mods to make it like the arcade.

but recently Tekno Parrot runs the original Outrun 2 SP read below

You know you can just add two extra ram to a xbox motherboard and flash it to turn it into a fully working Chihiro right?

No I had no idea. Has this been done successfully then?

You can set the resolution to 640x480 to run on the crt in the cab but it's a squashed aspect ratio (16:9 to 4:3)

It still plays fine and is by far most played game in the driving cab for me. It even works as multiplayer.

The Lindbergh multi has a few hacked up versions of Outrun 2. The terrible ‘Gangsta Edition’ where all the iconic music is swapped out for gangsta rap, and also a few different resolution options. One is 640x480 (VGA) and the aspect ration changes from widescreen to standard.

If there was a way to get this game image off the multi perhaps Teknoparrot could run it? I couldn’t play it with a squashed aspect ratio. Would do my head in.

I have an Xbox running outrun in a sega touring cab

It’s not great, ffb is only one level of force and it’s just a shake So it’s always the same .
And the options select them selves ?

I think the wiring has been done wrong ( it’s how I have picked it up)
I need to look under the hood. I’m hoping it has the LM2M2. Converter Pcb but I will check

Silver fox who replicated the French guy Aligante Pcb for. Sega to Lm2m2 to Logitech to Pc. Set up
Lives near me and I have been speaking to him
I have asked for his help in wiring this up..

There are some good Write ups / with diagrams to follow, Already but he said he is willing to help me if I get stuck
Then if successful I was planing on trying to do a easy to follow step by step. As I think this is what’s needed..

Logitech wheel is ok with technoparrot but not as good as the real sega driving dash!

Yeh my ffb from Xbox isn’t working

It’s just comes on or off...

No variation in strength or judder etc..

Should get a chance to check it out soon...
I know it has an Xbox 1 inside ...

Maybe it’s a hacked Xbox pad

such a great game , almost feel like it needs its own thread for the various ways to get it up and running!
