EPROM's not clearing...?

Hey all

I've got a UV nail lamp and im trying to use it to clear some EPROM's but they wont clear, any idea why? I've left them lower lifted them up towards the UV but it just wont clear. They are LED UV lights so maybe thats it? I dont get it.

Try covering it completely!
But I doubt that lamp is going to be good enough for the job.

Tbh, I would buy a proper Eprom Eraser.

Better getting one designed for the job realy as it wont be powefull enough i wouldnt say. They are not expensive.

Like trying to hammer a nail in with a kids plastic hammer !

I ended up buying an RS Stag from the late 70's I think.

Just this cheap one from Ali Express



It's got plenty of 5 star reviews saying it works fine so should be all good. Only really ever going to use it this once hence trying to get away with the nail polish one hahaha

I've got one of those and they work pretty well. Need to leave them under it for a while but will do the job. You'll probably need a 2 pin to 3 pin plug adapter.

You need to swap machines with Rotunda if you using eprom eraser for your nails

FYI those nail things are UVA 320-400nm whereas a proper UV EPROM Eraser is UVC 250nm... UVC can be damaging to cells which is why I have one in my pond filter to kill off the algae. Avoid exposing your skin (and/or nails) or staring into it... nasty stuff... but given the UVC tube operates in closed box it's fine.

And remember to cover the windows of the UV EPROMS with stickers as the ambient UVC found inside a dark arcade cabinet...

Tell me about it, seen the sun today for about 1 hour, thats out of what the last 8 days or so

Used to enjoy working on my Solar Heater panels through the winter, last few years I gave up as never see the sun, glad I never bought solar panel setup lol

I left some EPROMs out on the window ledge in summer for a week for an experiment. I think one bit in one address location had changed.
Bank note readers don't work either, got to be the nice and dangerous UV you're not supposed to look at, in order to work.

That would explain why my stupid excuse for an eraser failed then. I do some dumb stuff at times haha

I wish i was there when you stuck your hand in that live HV circuit in that monitor. It made me think of this vid , Makes me chuckle everytime i watch it !
