>>>> EUROCADE 2012 <<< saturday september 1, 2012 - Ridderkerk, The Netherlands

OK guys and girls, What do you say ? Can we do it again ? Will we have as many people and cabs there again ? Are you willing to do another nuts-trip again ?

Last december, when the year came to an end I was reflecting a bit on the year, of course Eurocade came up as one of the high points of 2011.

I also thought that September 2012 was still a pretty long time away and thought what the hell, why don't we just do it again....

So I asked around at the Eurocade 2011 crew, and all agreed to help me out with Eurocade 2012 !!!

Yes, the initial idea was to let Eurocade travel around Europe, but since there were no serious alternatives coming up AND since everything about Eurocade 2011 seemed to be very satisfying for everyone we thought, why not "same place, same time".

You can be assured that we have learned from the couple of things we can still improve on and will try and make Eurocade 2012 even better !!!!

SOOOOOOOOOO, take out your agenda and make a big reservation for september the first 2012 !!!! (better, cross out the entire weekend !!!!)

As last year, Eurocade is nothing without the visitors bringing a cab. I hope everyone who brought one last year (or two) can do it again, and those who didn't please do everything in your way to make it possible to bring one because this is THE essence of Eurocade: bring one cab, enjoy LOTS of cabs !

Based on the survey we did after Eurocade 2011, we decided that this year we will have a FIXED contribution price including everything (except drinks) because the vast majority of people indicated they preferred that.

We will have to do some calculation to see what the price will be at let you know ASAP.

Again, Eurocade is for YOU, BY YOU, without YOUR cab Eurocade is NOTHING. Only together we can make Eurocade 2012 a success like 2011 !!!

Please post here if you are willing to join in the fun, how many people you will bring (same rules as last year) and how many and what cabs !!!!

Well, why not simply start the well known list:

I had a look at our financial bookkeeping from last year and as you know we managed to break even.

Now....from the survey it was indicated by a majority of people that they want to switch to a fixed price and get rid of the "free donations" piggybank. The reason is simple: if everybody pays a fixed price, it is the fairest for everyone.

Now we did some budgeting for 2012 and it turns out that the price per person will be €20 per person.

This covers the following:

- soft-drinks and low alcohol drinks during the entire day (we do expect and ask you to keep moderate and won't allow excessive drinking)

- lunch including fresh rolls, hot soup and our famous Dutch hot snacks !

- at 18.00 sharp a fabulous buffet with various dishes !!

- a day of fun !!!!

From this we also finance:

- rental of the building

- electricity costs

- "dress up" costs of the arcade room

- all other costs

Last year we managed with the drinks but only because a lot of you guys were kind enough to bring trays of beer/lemonade etc.etc.

We kindly ask you to keep that up as we WON'T make the budget !

I know I can count on you !!!

Thanks !

Afraid the Slam is out of my reach this year due to work commitments. I did consider Eurocade last year, but again work got the better of things and I never made it. Fingers crossed this year is kinder to me for a little euro trip.

Claim to fame is I once walked through from the Van Der Valk hotel to the Station in Ridderskirk, never again. Took us nearly 45 minutes.

Mmm, wel maybe that is because there is no station in Ridderkerk ;)

The closest station is Rotterdam-Lombardijen and indeed a long walk. That's the only disadvantage of that Hotel, public transport is too far away, but since the vast majority of visitors come by car....

Would be great if you can manage to come over, we seriously missed some UK visitors last year !!!

You can better take thE Novotel Brainpark if you do come by public transport, that one is close to a subway station and a busline to Eurocade location...

Well I stand corrected, it was Barendrecht we walked to from the hotel. June 2010 and must haver been about 30 degrees. I was working on the BP Valhall down at Zwijndrecht, before moving up to Rotterdam in July prior to it sailing.

Must admit, the weather was brilliant that summer and it was certainly an experience to be in Rotterdam for most of the world cup.

Hi guys,

put me on the "probably attending" list. I will have to confirm a little later in the year as its a long roadtrip for me but most likely will be coming this time.

I will leave a cab decision until closer to the time if thats ok - see whats still working lol

Excellent !!!

I won't have a maybe list, just attending. The list is never set in stone and the same is true for the games list so let me know what you are planning to bring so I can list it...

Thanks !!!!
