Yeah already in conversations about artwork.. just undecided on which livery to go for. Initial D 2 UK spec only came with a twin marquee, which I do have. So its really just picking one.

The intention was to get the parts done separately, however have been told that the colour can differ with batches. So now I am getting it done in bigger sections (i.e. all the base parts). In terms of price my Naomi universal base was blasted/coated last year and cost me £35.

Once I get the price on my parts Ill let you know.

So as I couldn't do much to the cabinet this weekend (apart from prep some bits for powder next week. I decided to try and remove a sticker. The problem is this sticker is printed on a paper label with some very strong glue. Unlike the other stickers which have a plastic feel this is very thing and stuck solid.

I told some pictures and tried to remove, unfortunately the glue, age and paper won the battle and couldnt remove the sticker

I have got another cabinet with this sticker on so may try a different technique on that one.

Anyways from the photos I took and measurements I was able to recreate it in illustrator, this will allow a similar print to be taken.

So small update for the end/beginning of March...

The cabinet base and few other panels went to the shotblasting/powder coating this weekend. Its not till you remove the panels and see how bad the paint was peeling from the edges... this along justifies the need to have this cabinet repainted.

Also thanks to a forum member I was able to get a replacement Naomi2 to sort out the issues I have been having with my game/s, once this has been tested I will then order some replacement fans to help the cooling.

Also I got a couple of cards for the game cards collection, I think now all I need is a ID5 card and some Japanese cards from 1-3 for a complete set.

Better Mikonos! (without "11")! :)

Great it arrived!

I hope you are happy them! It is for me pleasure to restore and reproduced weird things far to normal from the usual for a fan.

What are those ID4 cards?

So been a while with the updates, but got these photos today from the shot-blasting/powder coating... so that's the base all ready to have new parts and stickers. More photos coming soon as the build takes shape!

Wow been a while with this update... some bad news and good news!!

So the cabinet was put into storage while I completed the basement to house the cabinets/game collection. Unfortunately this has now been taken over by the eldest soon and turned into a makeshift bedroom for him :(

So now we have to build a workshop/shed to store the cabinet in, we are trying to do this currently before winter sets in (workshop will be 3.6x3.6 so should be fine for needs as buit with extra wide door and height for toppers). So this is still ongoing....

However we have been buying some odd parts I knew we needed and sorted out the next load of parts for blasting and coating.. while moving them around found some spare parts which forgot I'd bought...

I have now got a nanao monitor to replace the sanwa so hoping one of the bezel may fit or can swap for one that does. Also found what looks like the gull wing speaker set!!

ok so what feels and actually is a forever.. we are resurrecting this post. Even though we havent been posting much on this its because nothing has really been happening apart from moving the cabinet from one location to another and waiting for situations to change so we can carry on with this restoration. On the plus side we still have been trying to source missing parts and the best way to document most of what we are doing... I have uploaded a short history video on what I am doing here...
So hopefully this would spur me on.. but now the sunshine has come out we are back to full speed ahead...

PLANS FOR THE WEEK:
So this week we are:
Dropping some of the remain Black Semi-Gloss parts off to be either shot blasted/acid dipped and then powder coated. The pictures below is what I sent to the company so will put them here for reference.
parts.jpg

Find out the size c-clips I need for the leg levellers feet, but replacements.

GOT: Base powder coated, NOS casters, replacement locknuts and bolts.

HELP NEEDED:
I was able to get 6 legs and 4 feet (which are normally missing/damaged), but I dont know the best way to clean these up?
IMG_E8285.jpgIMG_8286.jpg
Armed with a rotary tool, some brushes and even some rust remover which may work? but has anyone got any other advice on how to clean these up to look more like the pair on the left.
