So there has been a few sweets mentioned in another thread so thought I'd just ask what everyones favourite sweets & snacks were from yesteryear or ones you remember that are no longer about

Mine are cola bottles, tooty fruities & fruit salad

I remember something called yorkshire mix that you used to buy from the jars, it was an assortment of bits & pieces, probably the bits from the bottom of other jars but nice all the same

I suppose the obvious big change I remember is when marathon became snickers, not sure what the logic was but I think it was ok as marathon.

Wagon Wheels, I used to have these at a mates house in the early 80's, never had one for a decade or more, bough a pack & I'm sure they are half the size now to what I remember.

Oh yes, just remembered something called hedgehog flavoured crisps, not sure I ever had a pack but I'm not sure they would get away with those today

The Hedgehog crisps were a kind of spicy beefy flavour. Quite disappointing :( Marathon became Snickers to match with the rest of the world's branding, same as Opal Fruits and loads of others.

The nearest thing to Laser bars (which were AWESOME!) that I know of are Frosties. They are Laser flavoured, toxic orange coloured and semi-hard round boiled sugar sweets in a tube about 3 inches long. They do a cola flavour in red and a Laser flavour in a green wrapper.

Here are the cola (which are pretty nice too!)

I really liked Pacers - imagine a white and green striped Opal Fruit but spearminty :)

I didn't realise up until a few seconds ago that Pacers were originally called Opal Mints! Learn something new every day

Cheers trm for clearing up the marathon mystery, I never knew that, so hedgehog crisps were a spicy beef, thats actually made me think of something else I actually miss, I don't think walkers do the beef & onion flavour crisps anymore or at least I can't seem to find them anymore, used to love that flavour & have been forced onto smokey bacon now as I can't seem to get on with steak flavour crisps.

Laser bars I seem to have missed totally

but I do seem to remember the pacers (or something similar) with the stripey section.

Yes, thumbs up to Drifters & Wagons (ignoring size) not old school but Fuse Bars I thought were quite nice as well, see they went out 7 years ago.

I also remember when you could not only but 1p sweets but also .5p sweets, I think the little mice fell into the .5p price point.

There's a salt and vinegar flavour of these that are very similar to the burtons fish'n'chips. Give them a bash if you see them, I could quite easily bash a big bag of them in a row

Also have a space raiders addiction

Blimey, there are some tasty things being mentioned, I'm starting to feel hungry
smiley36.gif

Space Raiders, yes, very tasty, I remember buying a full carton of a similar snack called petrified prawn flavour from wilko's, just looked up a picture, usual 10p sized smaller bag & they were round iirc, kept buying 2 or 3 packs & became addicted to them so asked the other half's auntie who works there if she could get a full case in for me

I used to love Spicy tomato snaps, then earlier in the year spotted them in my local garage so bought the lot

.
Went home and found Amazon stock a lot of my old faves (snaps included by the box!) so have a few half empty 3kg bags of haribo in the cupboard now. Whoops. Best ones are Needlers Turkish Delight chocs. Mmm.

I always used to have time for transform-a-snack, quarterbacks, and salt & vinegar puffs. 10p crisps were the best
