Hi all,

After securing this cab some months ago it's finally made it's way from storage into my house ready to be cleaned and hopefully have a good chance of being nursed back to working condition. I have no illusions about the rarity of a working Philips Laserdisc player for this but there are other ways and means to get her working. I have a tech thread for the nasty stuff but here's a general look.

The Good!

  • It's a factory (Atari Ireland?) Firefox!
  • Side art is untouched and vibrant on both sides
  • Yoke decal and dash decals are also 100% - no fag burns, chips, dings - nothing
  • It's all original inside and super clean - no damp, no white rot, no hack job that I can tell
  • No damage to the cab at all really, barring some scuffing just under the top rear hatch where it's been against a wall or something and some scrapes on the front metal edges
  • Original Marquee & cardboard bezel are present
  • Front volume jack and knob + decal are there and relatively untouched
  • The yoke is nice and tight + smooth; no signs of clicking or worn rubber stops
  • Laserdisc compartment has the cage and lock mech still
  • Thumb buttons and triggers are working and nice and springy
  • Full set of keys

The Bad!

  • Parts have been poached. It was missing 1 x AR-II, the LD player & disc, The whole power brick, the screen AND the monitor board. I've since installed a Atari power brick, an AR-II and a screen (with a standard 19" resolution one that I'm hoping will work - I don't recall Firefox needing anything special?)
  • The metal work around the marquee and above the control panel is starting to rust - it will need redoing
  • Somebody had rammed the 3 layer PCB set into 2 guide rails (!)

I've removed, cleaned and inspected them and re-installed but until I power on I have no idea if they are damaged or not
  • The cabling was unplugged - it was everywhere - I guess from when the previous owner removed the power brick and the AR-II. I have tried my best to relocate everything correctly
  • It's missing one thumb trigger button
  • The top rear monitor hatch is missing, exposing the back of the tube. It's the same as a JEDI, so I'll source one or get my JEDI one copied
  • The bezel has a small tear (I'm being picky again aren't I?

Thanks guys - I was really surprised when I cleaned her up just how good she was underneath. The instruction paper and laserdisc sleeve are in bags stapled to the inside of the rear door still!
