So I had to change my rear pads and I have electronic parking brakes. I've no diagnosis leads to hook up to my laptop to set the parking brake to service mode.

So I disconnected the electronic brake lead on the calipers and hooked up my switching power supply to wind the electric brake mechanism back, allowing me to fit the new pads. I then had to wind them back in after fitting the new pads, job done. Think Ill change them a bit sooner next time 😅1000018901.jpg1000018902.jpg

Crikey, that must've made a racket when braking?! The discs ok?

I've not worked on the rears on an electronic handbrake before - interesting point about winding them back. Need to do my Smax at some point.

Nice solution! Out of interest, what car is it? I know the Vauxhall Astra and Insignia have a service mode you can set it to where it winds the calipers off by doing a sequence of hand brake button pushes, igntion on and off etc. Might be similar for other cars.

Blimey and I thought the brakes and hubs looked rusty on my cars, how old is that if it has electric handbrake

I've just had to fix the ABS fault on my 94 CRX, ABS light ok till driving and get to 10mph so assume wheel speed sensor build in diagnostics so no expensive garage costs, rear left sensor open circuit, £150 from Germany, seems front easy to get rear sensors not, but same type sensor on Civic 95-97, cable brackets and connector not so soldered some original cable on in middle of bracket to extend it with correct plug, fixed for £41.99 only thing that's failed in 10 years and lasted 30 years which isn't bad

Yeah i'm the same. Can''t really understand why anyone thought replacing a manual handbrake with a proper cable with electronics and motors that can go wrong was ever a good idea! Someone I know with a Peugeot 3008, the electronic handbrake throws errors in the BCM and disengages whenever it likes so you have to leave it in gear. Apparently it's just the switch/button that causes it so i've got a new one for them and gonna fit it sometime soon (simple job apparently takes about 10-15 minutes), it's just something that shouldn't happen though!

It's the same with screens in lorries now, that replace the door mirrors, they are a nightmare in the rain. Why replace something that works fine.mirrorcam-side-view (1).jpg

The peugeot I had before we lost the company car, 308 sw 2011 something like that, you'd be driving on Motorway and suddenly everything went off like you'd turned it off with key, I found if I put the key in the other way around it was okay, so the key was folding type that used to flop down and thats when it turned off, put in other way so it was held horizontal still and no issue so had to make sure I got it right way up, bloody scary at times
