So I'm new to anything electronics so bare with me. I'm stripping down a cabinet because it's seen better days but I'm also attempting to not ruin anything.

So does anyone have a diagram showing a basic layout of all the components in a jamma machine ? I open it up and there are wires everywhere.

I just want a quick diagram of what goes where ( not down to the individual wire )

But i.e Power supply > PCB > coin slot etc etc

I never found a decent one, but this one did make me laugh:

Exactly what i needed but there is also a big block on the base of the machine, assume the monitor power supply ?

prob a step down transformer 220 to 110 or isolation transformer ,

Theres also the wiring for the marquee light, test and service switches

Yeah so that cr##py diagram above only details the true 'jamma' side of the cab wiring.

So if you trace back from where your mains power comes in.. you should have your mains filter / little distribution board. From here, mains voltage and earth will go to your switching power supply (as shown on the sketch above... this supplies the jamma edge with +5v, +12v, ground, and can supply -5v in some cases), and more mains voltage / earth will go to the ISO transformer, which will power the monitor mainly.

The marquee lighting can come off the Jamma side if it's 12V, or can come off the mains filter board if it's full 240V.

Test and service switches just come off the jamma pins, they run off the 5v from the game board.
