Just got back from the US, where I attended the Annual Funspot classic arcade videogame tournament in Weirs Beach, New Hampshire. In attendance from the UK were myself (Missile Command world record), Gary Whelan (Galaxian world record), Greg Mott (UKVACer) and Paul Drury (Journo for Edge and Retro Gamer magazines). Over 20 new world records were set over the four days.

The place is absolutely unbelievable - approximately 275 classic arcade games from the "Golden Era" under one roof. It has now been registered as a museum which helps maintain the machines I understand. You buy tokens (100 for $25) and most machines were 1 token for one play. Kid in a candy shop stuff...

All the machines were in A1 condition - running original hardware, buttons and joysticks. 95% of them have been there for over 20 years and haven't been moved around much - so no damage. The other 5% have been donated by players over the years. A no smoking policy for all that time means no fag burns on the control panels either. I have a 4 minute walkthrough video (including sound!) which I'll post up tonight.

I'd thoroughly recommend a visit..
