The only thing that's fraudulant is this email warning.

Take it from me (who's spent 7 years working with the SIM card
interface protocol in mobile phones), it's not possible to get any
information out of a SIM card by making or recieving a call with the
phone.

Now if this hoax warning was about recieving SMS messages....
