G05-802 Asteroids deluxe monitor

Got a G05-802 Asteroids monitor showing following symptoms:

Very dark picture. When brightness knob turned up only ship can be seen.

Spot killer doesn't remain on. Deflection chatter can be heard.

Suspected HV section.

Found, 4.7uf 160v cap had leaked acid all over the pcb causing many dry solder joints. Washed pcb with isopropyl and tooth brush. Replaced cap with 4.7 400v cap as I didn't have any lower voltage in stock.

Used plumbers flux to melt of corroded joints and reflowed several affected joints with new solder.

Problem fixed.

Lovely clear picture

Mitsubishi TV's were nice but they had bad caps, they weren't cheap ones but many of them used to leak and had to replace most of em in the set, loved the motorised Stands though
