I broke the 60k barrier last night with a massive 60,800. Back in the day I would have been a Galaxian god in my arcade with that score, but now it just looks pathetic.

Good score Dave. I still think anything over 40K is good going.

Well done, David!
If its any consolation, that's not far behind my best from a couple of years ago. What's your accuracy rate like now?

Accuracy pretty good now, and improving all the time. I'm just finding the score breakthroughs are taking ages to occur, which is quite frustrating.

David has demonstrated both incredible skill and also endurance. Anyone who has played for over 3 hours will also attest to this. My barrier seems to be at the 2 million point score on Pac Man. You then realise that there's many HOURS to go ??
Aart will no doubt challenge this. If you saw them both playing Galaxian side by side, the similarities are striking. I mentioned this to David a while ago in Arcadeclub and there was no doubt in my mind that he would challenge and indeed exceed the WR.
Huge congratulations David. Iconic game, iconic score! Pacman832016-06-06 10:32:22

Thanks, Jon.

It would be awesome to see Aart back on Galaxian. I wasn't on the scene back when he and Gary were battling it out to break the million. Aart came close to 2 million himself once (1.97M) reading back through some old forum posts. Sadly, that game wasn't recorded. Then he went on to play his 1.6 million point WR game. If those two games were played on the same day, that is pretty astonishing!

I wonder how far the score could be pushed practically? I mean, the game is effectively on TG tournament settings by default. Extremely punishing game to play well after that first million - I hit the wall hard a number of times around that point.

Yeah, IIRC, Aart completely smashed Gary's WR on the first day of Funspot X,but it wasn't witnessed correctly by a TG referee. He then did his 1.67 score either the following day or on the last day of the tournament. I saw some of his game, but obviously I had my mind on my own personal goal ....

I'm playing it on my arcadeSD board in my mini candy cab.

Just been reading Perry Rogers' breakdown of the various board and romsets, and trying to figure out what rom I am playing on.

Perry mentions a harder set 2, where the pullets travel at an angle rather than straight down. That's what mine does.... does this not happen on set 3 ?
