Hi All

I've started to deck out my games room so thought I would share a quick pic or two.

I've still got about half to do and had to relegate my other machines back into storage to get it done :(

After

So far its cost me about £450 in materials, floor has been raised & insulated slightly (only about 1.5 inches and the walls are covered in 50mm Celotex insulation and then 3mm ply over the top to cut down on wasted space, the celotex was free so had to stick with what I was given.

I still have the final wall to finish but this is covered in pipes & Cables that need to be boxed in & i need to put in a suspended ceiling as the garage walls are over 9 feet high so I can hide the tops of the wall framing etc.

More pics when I can spend some more time sorting it out.

I think there is enough room for about 12 - 14 uprights.

The only problem is I don't have 12 uprights and have to try and squeeze 3 sit-down driver cabs in there, along with my 6 rather large uprights.

I just keep telling myself it will all fit #denial

Some more progress last night.

Bloody Gas meter in the way so boxing it in and will put a little access door in later.

Just one more section of wall to do (frame is all done)and it will nearly be ready for painting.

I've been given a load of light purple floor tiles so these will be going down on the floor & was thinking of just painting the walls white.. unless someone can recommend a better colour for the walls :)

best get an interior decorator in then, my colour pallet has shades of white grey & black anything else & I'm clueless :)

Or maybe I should put a poll up and let you guys decide

I'd just run with whatever colours you can get cheap (I did magnolia!). Bear in mind that the ply will suck it up like a sponge. Maybe don't paint it?

Your gonna need to stick a couple of vents on the boxing of the gas meter, your not supposed to run gas pipework in unventillated voids, and make sure it's atleast 150mm between any gas pipe and sockets and 25mm between pipe and cables.
Sorry went into heating engineer mode there

Thanks for the heads up Chappy :) although it will be vented at the top I may add something extra in,

Think im safe with the sockets & pipe distances as ive moved them further apart than they were before they were installed by the trades.

Martin, thanks for making the decision harder... now I have no paint to add to my choice list...

I'd honestly be tempted not to paint it! But I know from experience, several times now that it'll never be empty enough to paint after this point

I did my games room in my house in Northants in a burgundy ish colour. Did the chimney breast grey and I think the whole lot looked quite 80's. 80's bedroom, more than arcade maybe, but bear in mind that was a room inside the house, not a garage so it had to be respectable. Might have some photos somewhere I could put up later...

Hi Guys

Well I'm nearly done, decided just to paint the whole thing white which had its final coat on Tuesday night.

Next up I have to remove all the crap and start laying the floor tiles.

Will have to wait a little while to install the suspended ceiling as I've run out of "games room" funds..

Nice work Setch. I used Google Sketchup for planning the layout of my game room. A lot of cabs have been modelled, it's pretty accurate too. Even if you can't find the exact game you will probably find one very similar. Much easier to move around than the real thing!

Yeah been playing with Sketchup, not managed to find many "new" sega cabs though so was a bit limited about what I could import, but I soon worked out that I didn't have enough room for all of them .

Will hopefully get a better picture at the weekend of the whole thing finished.

Hi

A quick Sketchup plan with some rough measurements.

not settled for any kind of placement yet but will be something like this.

Out of interest has anyone managed to find a Naomi Universal model so I can complete the model ?

I've also had to use a Daytona 2 single model to use in place of an ID3 cab.

hopefully get the floor down tomorrow.
