Hi all, i have just had a renewal from my current household insurance Direct line.

They no longer cover outbuildings for more than £2500 contents cover.

I have phoned a couple more and the most cover i can get is £5000 for machines in an outbuilding.

Apparently the rules changed earlier this year regarding the maximum cover for contents in outbuildings and it seems £5000 is the most you can get.

Can anyone recommend a good household insurer that will cover my gamesroom barn for more cover?

Also i would check your own policy's to make sure you have enough cover for your games.

Cheers,

Steve

Just out of interest what does the insurance cover? I wouldn't have thought that arcade cabs were a viable theft target as they're simply too big and bulky to nick so what does the insurance cover? Fire? Flood?

I used to work in insurance many moons ago (for CIS), and I can remember just how much domestic cover varied between insurers, in particular what was and what was not covered within the boundaries of your property.

CIS policies were not cheap, but very comprehensive.

It's been a good 14 years since I left, so no idea what their domestic policies are like now (or even whether or not they still do non-life insurance), but they might be worth a call.
