I'm considering having some form of blacklight\UV lighting in my games room to enhance the arcade atmosphere. I wonder if anyone has this in their games room and can offer advice? Is it even worth bothering with?

I know UV light can be harmful, and there's essentially 3 types. UVA, UVB and UVC, with the latter being particularly nasty. Seems UVA is the least harmful and is used for atmospheric illumination at venues etc., but should exposure to UVA still be kept to a minimum?

Maybe I should just forget the idea and go for some other kind of atmospheric lighting. Lol.

I bought a few LED ones years back, still haven't put them up anywhere yet, 1m long in D shape diffused plastic housing, not sure what it compared like to old tube ones

 https://uvgear.co.uk/

To be honest UV Lights are probably the least of anyone's worries when most homes and cars are full of Fire retardant toxic chemicals that most other countries banned

I have a red light has a cool low level light feel like thr military use . Good for tank /hilicopter / submarine games.

some games are very reactive to the uv
Has a uplift to the screen.

Take centipede a phycadelic feast for your eyes and brain without uv.

Now
Angle it under the misty gaze of your uv light and it’s even more Só ..

Might not be everyone’s cup of tea .. but it’s a feast for your eye balls ! For me it has an uplifting quality to colours and glow .

Iv not bought any black light active art posters /carpet yet as i don’t have the room.
But I’m sure I will get some in the future

In a couple of our arcades we used the UFO neon under run car kits ( not street legal but I had some on my tail lift van) they looked great delivering pool tables to people houses in evening and along Rhyl promenade just competing show off to the boy racers …. tubes work on 12v dc mains adapter. still a box never been opened here! Motion light up valve caps on front tyres too !! (Twin rear wheels not possible to fit valves)

More recently available though the LED sticky back strips plug into mains USB plug with remote colour/flash/alternate between colours or stay on one desired colour…. Like these round our congested breakfast bar, in place all year but used mainly at Xmas .. cheap 5 meter strips or longer/shorter cut to size if you want precise length? Find on eBay? Easy to mount on wall .. variable speed fade change or flash or static one colour mood lighting…

Yes, I've got various LED lighting myself, but am considering UV lighting specifically. I have a UV LED light frame for Vectrex, which is used for specially made UV reactive screen overlays, which is very cool. I was also considering getting UV reactive carpet, but it only seems available in a few styles, is expensive and the UV reactance fades if the carpet is exposed to direct sunlight. So, kind of going off that idea.
