GEEK 2014

Don't know if any of you went to the GEEK thing in Margate this weekend.

It had a lot of old consoles & some interesting games BUT NOT ONE OLD ARCADE CABINET !.

I was very disappointed as there have been quite a few cabs there in previous years (even if quite a few of them were MAME).

The only thing they had was a full-sized cabinet running something similar to MAME & another with 'flappy bird'.

As there's no feedback available on their website yet, I thought i'd see if anyone else went & what you thought about it ?

I went. I was very disappointed that there was no cabs, and that the surrounding 'arcades' had very few machines. Me and my mate went for all three days (including the late night show). The highlight was the console hall, lots of choice, but could off done with changing the games everyday as after the second day we were done.

2600 with a hales rom scanner attached. And some games for sale but nothing to shout about.

No photos i'm afraid. Didn't think about it.

Glad i'm not the only one disappointed with it this year (that sounds wrong but you know what I mean). Maybe they'll do something about it next year if enough people are of the same opinion.

There was a lot of free floor space & no 'real' games to fill it.

I only went on the Saturday night & I live in Ramsgate, so it was no hardship to me to drive 10 minutes & only pay a fiver but I would have been annoyed if i'd travelled any distance & gone for the weekend like you.

Here's hoping they realise the error of their ways.

I went last year and thought it was ok for the console and computer stuff but there just weren't enough arcade games - glad i didn't bother this year if there were no machines at all.

Looks like the South Coast Slam is definitely going to be the place to be in the South this year then, can't wait for that! If you haven't been before it is well worth the journey as you are guaranteed loads of games...
