Well, I know I picked up a US Outrun in December, but I was still really after one with sideart, had to be original, not repro.

For the past 3 or so years Nitrus had been trying to extract the Outrun cab from an arcade in Barry, Wales on my behalf. It's been to and fro with the op for years about selling it, haggling and all etc. Nitrus did an ace job and eventually got the deal for me (BIG THANKS NITRUS). Sods law though it all came together about a week after buying the US Outrun. So what to do?? well lets buy another one

Martin picked it up a couple of weeks ago and delivered today, Strykr very kindly was on hand to help. The machine weighs so much, we had to strip out the monitor, bezel, CP to wheel it up the gardens/hill to the games room (hence why in the photo its in parts).

Side art is really good on it, just one line scratch on one side, and an additional line where it caught a gate lock bringing it in today. Once I get all the parts back on it (replacing some from my stash) it should look the business.

Also Martin brought me the Moon Cresta table I bought off Prof Peach in December today too.

Anyhow here are the pics below. Thankfully I now have all my grails.

The outrun from today is the one with the oval sticker on the front.

Here are the long due pics of the Moon Cresta, as you can see needs a whole lotta work, the glass top is scratched up good and proper, ideally I want the outside look cosmetically nice. So am going to need one of those coin slot / buttons to put in the big hole.

Well its been over a year, but we looked at the Outrun this weekend, fan was coming on, but no power to the PCB and monitor not coming on.
Transpired the power supply was faulty, I had a few of these in my parts stash, 2nd one did not work, but a brand new 3rd one did and she came to life at last. I knew the cab had issues with steering and a green screen before I bought it, (despite the arcade operator saying all that was fixed), so the green screen and broken steering came as no surprise, the power supply failure did though. I put on my spare CP which sorted the steering, so really its just the green tint screen that needs sorting now, but it does all play. Just so happy after actively trying to get an Outrun cab since 2007, I had my first game on mine in my home yesterday at long long last. Particular pleasing the PCB all worked fine.

Nice one.

If I knew that arcade collecting involved putting stuff into storage for years I would have bought a house with an attached garage. I've lost count the amount of times I've spent traveling back and forth nicking bits off cabs, the cost of messing about would have probably paid for the garage!

Now my garage and my Mom's garage are both teh full.
