Thanks for the update.
I can't recall whats supposed to be surpressed, is it the "do you own this game" type message ?

All I got when starting a game was the gameinfo /driver screen, but this is the same as I get on the regular mame release.

If someone could tell me if the suppression patch is working on this version, that'd be great ta.

Hi Jonny I just found your post, is there any chance you could re-upload this old 0.223 version please, the link's dead?

It's the last version that didn't have netlist audio emulation for Astro Blaster, which is currently playing at about 30% speed in my video wizard jamma cab :giggle:

Hi, I deffo won't have that version I'm afraid, I only tend to keep the last 3 or so builds these days. I can talk you thru how to build it yourself if you want.

No worries & thanks for the offer m8, I found a backup I made of the freshly installed Chunksin Win 7 build which had version 0.220 on it so I'm all sorted now, Astro Blaster is back to full speed (y)

I've compiled Mame before, think I followed a guide by Mr Do or someone, it was years ago...just for future reference though, I'm interested to know which patches you apply & where to get them?

Cheers

Glad you got sorted. As for patches I keep it really simple. There's a guy called B4nd1t0 (or something similar) that does a load of differently patched versions, think he's on the official GM forum.

Personally I just use the suppression (AKA no-nag) patch which thankfully is still working as the guy's website who used to make it (MKChamp) is no longer up. I've got a few different versions of it saved to try when one doesn't apply properly.

The only other thing I have to fiddle with to make an arcade only version is the arcade.flt file which is no longer included in the new MAME source since maybe 5 or 6 versions ago. I just use an old version and edit it according to failed build output log until it works. Hope this makes sense.

Yeah it does, I remember adding the suppression patch, glad it still works & there was one to re-enable all the cave shmups back then too. Thanks for consistently sharing your builds here, really appreciate it .

You're very welcome, I'm glad there's a good few folk who seem to be getting some use out of it.
